My verdict is in

The 3D view is worthless because it doesn’t show the plate straight-on (to judge balls and strikes). 2007 is better for that.

Of course, the real asset would be showing the strike zone, but I’m not holding my breath.

I always thought that the distaff side was

the left hand side.

"In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the
field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the
defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the
blitz, even if he has to use the shotgun. With short bullet passes and
long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this
aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in
the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.

That's fine, you don't have to

But 5 years from now, when music is readily available for free and on BitTorrent, Wikipedia will be referencing Trent Reznor as one of the leaders on the digital front. The man 100% cares about his fans, and 100% cares about the music. The rest is just bullshit to him. And that’s why his fans are so loyal.

And I didn’t used to like their stuff, either. The newer stuff is much less hard-core-metal-I-hate-the-world than it is a mash-up of a lot of stuff…

I wouldn't call

Industrial/Techno as a subgenre of Metal.

There was really nothing techno at all...

...about Pretty Hate Machine or Broken. Go back and listen to their first few albums and they started off as an industrial metal band. As for what they are now, I have no idea.

by cwyers on Jun 26, 2008 1:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Industrial is only "metal"

in the sense of labeling. Metal is the closest genre that Industrial (now a genre in its own right) could originally be affixed to. People love to label things.

While thrash, progressive, sludge, etc. are all branches of the same metal tree, I would place Industrial as a tree of its own.

I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling, so why don't we just ignore each other til we go away.

For sure.

These are labels and genres that couldn’t be summed up here. Just saying that industrial is closest to metal as far as genres go.

No, I mean five years from now.

More and more artists are coming around – sure, like dipshit Kid Rock – and in a few more years – NIN’s The Slip is much more likely to become commonplace – get the music free, try it out, buy the whole thing or go see em live. It makes a lot more sense, doesn’t it? And music isn’t free, unless you’re referring to downloading it illegally. Only a few major-label artists have put stuff out free – Niggy Tardust, Radiohead (sort of), NIN, who else am I forgetting?

It's his job to at least throw a strike

It’s kevin millar for gods sake he is awful as well, you have to make them earn their runs and that right there probably cost us the series unless our B lineup gets 7-8 runs

"This is why Major League Baseball does not need instant replay, because then every single play will then be reviewed." -- Joe Morgan, 5/18/08, referring to an umpire ruling a Carlos Delgado homerun foul when replays showed it hit the foul pole.

It works on offense

And it works with a closer or dominant reliever on the mound.

Bases loaded full count with a struggling pitcher on the mound? Guy who has been described as a head case? I’d try not to distract him at that time.

The fans pay their money to see a ballgame, cheer and have fun.

If you can’t handle it, then you don’t deserve to be in baseball. Simple as that.

There are some times when things do get out of hand or are inappropriate – racist comments, throwing batteries, etc. Cheering is not one of them.

But he is in baseball

And sure, the fans shouldn’t have to make adjustments.

Hopefully the Cubs can today, like in his last start, by scoring twice the average number of runs.

Pitching is KING

When you repeatedly have 3/5’s of your starting rotation go 5 and 6 innings, then it creates a crapload of strain. MUST, MUST, MUST get a primetime starting pitcher in here and soon. St. Louis and Milwaukee are not going to hand over this division to us without a fight.

Even if no one on this board had a problem with you, you’re simply saying the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I understand your desire to get another arm in the rotation, and I agree with you. But no one on this board is arguing their point every six or eighteen minutes.

You should be a GM, man...

I love your ideas. They’re all original and RIGHT ON.

The Cubs need a pitcher, okay, okay, we get it. I’m sure Hendry is sitting on his hands just waiting for Rich Hill to develop.

If it’s one thing I’ve learned about Hendry over the past two years or so is that he gets what he wants. I have full confidence that he’ll pull off some sort of trade.

Help me Obi-ONEDEC. You're our only hope.
