I have a guy going with us to 7/9 and 7/10 games. We’ve never been to wrigley so not sure how everything works. Cubs.com is showing sold out, but he found Standing Room Only tickets for 60 a piece from a broker. Do you think he should wait and try to find a scalper or go ahead and buy Tickets online?

Honestly
wait until game day SRO are only $15. You will able to get these at least. Box office opens at 8. They release players and press tickets, tickets reserved for players and the press, and he might be able to get a seat. $60 for SRO is pretty crazy.
I live right next door and do wait until gameday all the time.

Even if they lose today, so what?
The Cubs still have the best record in baseball, and they’ll still lead by at least 3.5 games.
The season is long. And frankly, they’re well overdue for a few more home losses. This shouldn’t be a surprise.

It sucks that Marquis is trying too hard to be fine with his pitches, I know. He’s a head case, thank LaRussa for that. But if we can get one more inning out of him today, it will help.

Marquis is a terrible pitcher.
What makes him a terrible pitcher is that he’s a head case. He doesn’t know what pitches to throw in what counts, and not even the catcher can get him to trust his stuff. He has no physical problems, his mechanics are sound. He just sucks, because he is a head case.

Actually
I’m sorry I used that term head case further up the read, because it’s obnoxious. But Marquis did, in fact, consult some sort of sports psychologist over the off season because of what he (and the team management?) perceived as non-physical issues.

Well of course they'll try just about anything...

Jason Marquis will put together a good stretch every so often...
...largely on the backs of his defense. He gives up way too many home runs, can’t strike batters out, and walks batters way too often. But every once in a while his defense will bail him out and someone will mistake that for something Jason Marquis did.

thank you! after Mar-kwees "gem" in Toronto
I suggested he had actually been hit hard, just right at the defense. The general response was “thats what he’s supposed to do”, which I agree with to an extent (pitch to contact w/ sinker), however it still doesn’t mean Marquis did anything good, or that his performance despite the stats showed he is a mediocre pitcher

I'm not insulting his mental makup.
I’m talking about a pitcher who has good stuff, sound mechanics, and a history of underachieving because he can’t seem to get it together mentally. Sure, referring to him as a head-case is obnoxious, but I’m not saying it to his face as an insult. I’m simply explaining why he is not a good pitcher. JohnM. cites exactly what I am talking about.

he made few mistakes
I don’t blame him for not getting Gasol. Apparently, they wanted to do a salary dump, but the Bulls wanted to get rid of some contracts too. Thus, the contracts never matched and the deal never happened.

I can't stand him
He walks the worse hitters on the opposing team and then continues to give up walk after walk.

great cardinals are winning
I seriously truly despise that team. At least Milwaukee last year had a great team that was worthy of contending. That pathetic excuse for a team is really annoying me..
