They've been doing it since the late 70's

The Sox have always done that at home games since the 70’s—originally Nancy Faust, who originally popularized the song at games in that context (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Faust), on the organ and later through the stadium PA when she wasn’t playing every game.

No, I am pleasantly surprised

at his performance so far this year and realize that he will most likely come down to earth as the season goes on. I meant that we will need some road victories with him pitching.

Well

It is the 3rd Inning…

We need to start chipping away at this lead.

Maybe it was fitting that CSN had the Colorado game on prior to this one. If it was the 8th inning we could start crying in our beer.

Falling behind

Trouble is on the horizon if the Cubs keep falling behind. This has been happening with too much regularity. The starting pitching isn’t good enough over the course of the full season for that to continue happening. They are in a pretty significant rut lately, the Sox series notwithstanding, and if they don’t snap out of it soon, the NL Central race will be way tighter than it should be….and soon.

The starting pitching has been awful (especially rhe last two games, of course. I think they’re really missing Z).

Lou Donaghy???

Did Lou just throw this one in the crapper to begin with??? Look at our lineup. I mean, I know we have a few injuries, but good grief man. All the scrubs are playing at the same time. I wouldn’t call Ward a scrub, but he surely isn’t a fleet footed RF. Patterson, Cedeno, FonteNO, geez….....

And another thing

The White Sux are the ones who need this game, alot more then we do.

Id rather be Up 4.5 in the division then just 1/2 up like the White Sux.

this looks to be one of those slumpy stretches all teams go through…..our expectations are sky high because we have seen this team at its best and it still does have the best record in baseball….....gotta just hope the slumpy stretch is short and we can rebound quickly…..at least the All-Star break is coming…..let’s work on these kinks and be glad this isn’t happening in August and September…..

If we have learned anything so far this season

it would be that the Cubs have to make nearly every game interesting, no matter how much we would sometimes prefer a good safe win. Or in the case of when they play the Cards and White Sux, a nice safe blow out.

Pitching staff could be in scary shape in a few days

I have modest faith in Sean Gallagher giving 5 or 6 innings tomorrow. But I have zero faith in Sean Marshall doing anything on Sunday. And after Marquis and Dempster got rocked? We could be looking at a severely spent bullpen in a few days.

Hendry, PLEASE get another starting pitcher soon.

"In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the
field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the
defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the
blitz, even if he has to use the shotgun. With short bullet passes and
long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this
aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in
the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.
