Boy, we have gotten some really bad calls this game.

First, the ball/strike calls earlier, that got Lou ejected. Now, we get the bad call on Cedeno’s grounder.

Hey

He hits a weak grounder to second. Even if he’s safe at first, he didn’t help. At least he could try to hit behind the runner. Think before you talk.

The pitcher isn't a moron.

He knows as well as anyone that the hitter wants to hit behind the runner, and he takes that into account when he throws his pitches. It’s not as easy as you suggest.

The big factor in this series....

is Aramis Ramirez. Last week, he hits and we win. This week, he doesn’t and we’re losing. Lee went 5-5 yesterday batting in front of Aram and didn’t score himself once.

I’m not pissed at Aram, he’s my favorite player on the Cubs. But he’s obviously having a bad series.

There are a lot of little complexities like that.

A player can get charged for an earned run without a team getting charged with an earned run, for example.

by cwyers on Jun 29, 2008 8:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Two outs, an error is made, pitching change

New pitcher gives up HR—earned run for the new pitcher, unearned for the team

by Shanghai Badger on Jun 29, 2008 8:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah.

If there was a runner left on the bases when the new pitcher came in, no runs are charged to the pitcher that let that runner on, however.

by cwyers on Jun 29, 2008 9:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Also, if a runner on third scores on a passed ball...

...with two outs in the inning, the run is earned if the batter reaches safely, and unearned if the batter is retired or reaches on an error.

So Ernie Banks was no good, then? Ryne Sandberg?

That is a weak, lazy argument.

Show me why that is even remotely important.

Your lack of logical acuity is quite amusing. You might be the most ignorant poster on this board.

Sigh. As did I.

And then I thought it would be Gary Scott, and then Kevin Orie, then Bully Mueller….

Well, kcjones,

I’m heading to bed. I know you’ll be back around tnoight when we’ve all gone to post snarky replies. I wish the best and hope to see, for once, in a thread where the Cubs are winning.
