Howry Cow! t-shirt TV debut!!!

This thread on the original open thread for Monday night's game @ SD made me very excite!  was the Howry Cow! shirt really on TV?  i rewound my DVR'd game to the point right after the Cubs' 1st run to see if I could see it, only to realize that you guys must have been talking about the Chicago CSN feed while i was watching the SD channel 4 feed here in vegas.

if it was on, it is about 110% chance that it was SWL because he has the only other shirt(s) in existence and i wasn't at the game.

someone with the Chicago CSN feed on DVR please rewind and grab a screenshot!!  here's what you are looking for:  Cubs-win-9-28-07-howrycow_medium

(artist's rendering of what SWL may look like).

UPDATE: Thanks for the screen grab kaseyi!! --

Bull back in China shop!

Yes Cubbies it’s Lou again. Couldn’t resist. Man, you have some kind of creativity there! I listened to Ron and Pat here at work. (Pssst…Don’t tell the boss).

The Cubs are a serious comeback team. I’m concerned about one thing though. Too hot at this point in the season. How long can it last? As you know I’m speaking from the Chernobyl like meltdown of the Mets last September.

But I think the stars are aligned just right for the Cubs this year. We shall see!

OT: question on Mets starters

What’s up with Oliver Perez? He seems to be your version of Rich Hill. Is he salvagable?

And, how much longer will they go with Pelfrey? He seems to be settling in now, but will the pressure to win now bump him out?

by Shanghai Badger on Jun 3, 2008 10:25 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Shanghai...Olli Perez

Whew! Man, I don’t know if it’s his mechanics or his head. I’m on the side of thinking it’s a little bit of both. I honestly don’t think he’s focusing on every pitch. I think he’s throwing, not pitching. I don’t want him to overevaluate every pitch, but I really believe he’s just out there slingin hash.

Rick Peterson almost threw up in the first inning. I thought he was going to chew the paper that he famously rolls up like a scroll.

Perez’s largest problem is that he is inconsistent. Rick has got to get him working everyday on his mental game preparation. I think that he’s not doing anything between games. He has got to either simulate each game in his head as it’s being played or do something to mentally prepare for his next outing. Last night was deplorable.

Random

but I heard Rick Peterson pissed a lot of people off and might be released.

I've had Perez in a keeper league since he was with the Padres...

...so I’ve been following him closely ever since he reached the majors. I don’t want to steal too much of SWL’s glory, so I’ll just say that Perez has struggled with his mechanics throughout his career. He’ll pitch well for an extended period of time then his mechanics will go out of whack, almost as if he’s forgotten how to pitch. This has happened in San Diego, Pittsburgh, and NY. When it does, the term “lack of focus” is mentioned first, followed by “uncoachable” just before he’s traded, and finally “lazy” once he’s gone.

Compared to Hill, Perez throws harder and is less reliant on his breaking ball. He has a terrific moving fastball. Despite having reached the majors in 2002, Perez is only 26 and he’s never had a major injury so he should be kicking around for a while yet…which is good because he’s incredibly fun to watch when he’s pitching well.

And back on topic, the t-shirt is fantastic, glad that it made it onto TV…and you didn’t even have to find a way to work the letters W,G, and N into a sign.

Holy Crap!

I’ve been trying to dig myself out from under the metric ass load of work that I had waiting for me this morning and just now got a chance to log on and check thing out here!

LOL…I can’t believe I got on TV! Did Len or Bob mention the shirt? I spent most of BP in the LF Bleachers behind Howry yelling at him trying to get his attention, and dangling the other shirt over the wall. I think Wertz and Lieber saw it, but I guessing they told Bob and he didn’t feel the need to look over or respond. My son was a little dissapointed. Anyways, I’ll give it another shot tonight (I’m taking the wife this time, maybe Bob will respond to a MILF calling his name (don’t let my wife know I just referred to her as a MILF (are you allowed grammerically to use parenthesis inside other parenthesis?) ) ).

Anyway, there I am. How do I look in HD? Wish me luck tonight. GO CUBS!

Did you stake out the parking lot after the game?

Hanging out by the bus or whatever transport the team uses might be a good idea if you can’t catch Howry before the game.

We're gonna turn SWL into a stalker with our suggestions

SWL, just don’t get arrested, I don’t know what we would do without your pictures and wit :)

Well, I don't know what the cops are like in San Diego...

...but I assume if he did get arrested, they’d let him go eventually.

Nanika Ga Okoru!

Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.

Okay, obv. we don't want SWL to get arrested

I’m pretty sure that at Wrigley there is a space near the parking lot where security lets fans gather and wait. Perhaps Petco has a similar area?

Anyone know where the Cubs stay? I sure don't.

I would have tried to stick around and catch them getting on the team bus, but I had my 11 year old son with me last night and since it was a school night and he has a baseball game this afternoon we were under strict orders from Mom to ix-nay the awdling-day and get right home after the game. Perhaps I can persuade the better half to go exploring after the game for the team bus. Anyone else know where that usually is?

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

I don't, but someone here has to.

Maybe we can leaf through some old media guides that have the hotels listed?

Last year...

Cubs stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Don’t know if that’s changed or not this year.

Fantastic SWL!

I’d think Eyre would be your guy. He’s nuts. And a lefty. Kind of redundant.

Congrats on the airtime.

Not as nutty as Ohman was.

Remember him? Isn’t it fun to have a good team?

Truly

I miss Rich Hill for his sense of humor.

I laughed for five minutes when he said that DeRo was a cage fighter during the FOX Game of the Week intros last year.

Eyre is my first choice...he's a goof.

Lilly is my second, he’s got a dry sense of humor and might accommodate my request if I tell him to charge Howry $25 for it.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

FYI

When we went to ATL last year my son and I were next to the dugout and when the ball came in from the infield Lilly got it. I yelled at him and he turned around. I pointed at my son (in his Cubs jersey) as if to say, “Hey Ted, young Cub fan here” and he made a face like he was really excited and then turned around ball still in hand.

IMO, try Eyre.

I'm confused

You mean Lilly had the excited look on his face, or your son had the excited look on his face?

Anyway, I wouldn’t paint him with the jerk brush just yet. He may not have understood what you were asking – he could have just heard his name, turned around, not been able to figure out who yelled it and then went back to his business. I think we’ve all done that a few times, so I’d give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah I'd like to think that

But it wasn’t that way. Trust me.

It’s cool though. I can root for the uniform, not the guy.

SWL I noticed that shirt too and did a total double take...

your stunt double looked like he was having a good time. So where were your seats? lol j/k. Seriously, that’s awesome. Glad we saw your shirt and not the retarded nazi with the horry cow shirt. Have a great game tonight!!

I'm kind of a big deal
