Winning…and a Collective Conscience

In watching last night’s game and the others on this latest winning streak, I’ve begun to notice that players are putting aside individualism in favor of the greater good of the team. Theriot, Ramirez and others continue to hit to the opposite field, their patience at the plate is unlike any Cub team I’ve seen in my lifetime and they continue to rally around the guy on the mound when they see he begins to struggle. Last night for example I was watching as the Cubs were walking off the field and Wood sought out Marmol put his arm around his shoulder and was probably offering a few words of encouragement after Marmol had made the game interesting. This is a sport made up of individual statistics but there is not one guy on this 25 man roster that hasn’t made a positive contribution so far this year. This team is truly playing with a collective conscience which will undoubtedly lend itself to greater things to come.
