We sure woke the padres offense up this series
Lilly pitched well but the starters overall need to pitch better so we can conserve the bullpen

Padres runs
I hate to play the ‘don’t count’ game but some of the Padres runs in this series were pretty fluky…8th inning HR off of Marmol and then Kevin Hart has a bad outing, Hart most likely isn’t in that game if its close. I’m only giving the Pads credit for 8 runs in this series lol

3 of 4 isn't out of the question.
This week, I thought—split in L-A. But the Dodgers continue to struggle to get runs, and the pitching is still faltering. I’m looking forward to my trip to the Ravine Saturday.

No, No, No
He is not the answer, one good game against us means nothing

maddux pitching well at home
Maddux is pitching well at Petco but bad everywhere else…unless the Cubs are going to play a sizeable amount of the season at Petco park, he’s not the right guy to get.

You watched the game, right?
Maddux could have pitched that game in a phone booth. He sliced and diced the best offense in the NL - and he still could have lost because the Padres left - oh, about 75 men on base. He…was brilliant. I feel a bit better about this loss, the more I give thought to what I witnessed.
He’s 5-4 with a…I’m gonna say this, I don’t usually do—a shitty team. Give him some offense, and he’s gonna win, even in Citizens Bank, the GAP, Miller Park, or Coors Field.
CC Sabathia ain’t gonna come here. Bonderman isn’t the answer.
My money’s on Maddog.

Anyone think Maddux
was “auditioning” for a new job?

John M
I was thinking the same thing. I think he was showing Hendry that he could still help a team down the stretch.

Problem is...
...if Lou is complaining about guys not going deep into the game, Maddog probably isn’t going to go 7 very often.

Team Batting last night
was pretty brutal. Not just Lee (although he is in a little funk). Seemed like the enigma of Maddog got to them last night. The “whole jump on him early, or you let Maddux settle into his game” took the Cubs out or their game of being patient and letting the pitcher make the mistake. Dome’s first 2 ab’s he swung at the first pitch and flew out. Just an uncharacteristic game for that offense in general. It happens sometimes.
