OT: Cubs fans with Wisconsin connections

Over the last few months, I've noticed that there are a lot of people on BCB who, like me, have Wisconsin ties and are Cubs fans.  I've exchanged posts with a few of you in the last couple of days.

As you can guess from my name and avatar, I'm a UW grad.  I grew up in Kenosha, now live in Racine and work in Milwaukee (when I'm not in Shanghai).  I have friends that are Brewers fans . . . we get along.  (They talked smack through early July last year.  I waited until the end of September to respond.  What goes around comes around.)

I'm interested to hear others' stories . . . were you born here, lived here at one time, etc.  If you're originally from WI, how did you become a Cubs fan?  When my dad was a kid, there was no team in Milwaukee, so the Cubs were the closest and he followed them.  When I was growing up, the Cubs were on the TV because my dad's a Cubs fan...I also had a teacher in grade school that is a huge Cubs fan, which is probably why it stuck for me more so than others in my family.

How about you?
