"Discuss amongst yourselves" - Shameless Al & BCB Praise
That really is what it's all about here on BCB. And Al, you and the BCB crew are folks I would like to thank again
Once more, Al, thanks so much for helping create this forum, keep it focused and letting the fans. I appreciate SBNation's approach .. but this Cub blog has clearly been one of the most enjoyable outlets I've had in years. In the end, this is all just a game / business venture we watch and fret, cheer, and scream over .. but it's clearly a great national pastime. I do have a life outside the Cubs, but this really, really is nice to be able to come to, relax, debate and laugh with. Thanks once again for your commitment to BCB and making it rock for us all.
Toonmike and Holy Mackeral - we don't see enough of your work. I know you can't be there burning the creative juices all the time, but watching things from your vantage points behind the viewfinder and at the drawing table is always a delight. I cartoon and photograph myself but never have enough time to indulge in them more. It's great to see your work bringing a thousand words/laughs each time you post.
And yeah, I'll say again, had I known it was you in the hotel lobby in Cincy - there would have a restrained, yet enthusiastic verbal hoisting of you on my shoulders. Thanks again from this old Cub fan's heart ..
(hint: this is the right time for a SWL moment)

I agree whole heartedly. This is a great place to hang out with fellow Cub fans. For the most part, everyone hear is knowledgeable about their team and it’s exciting to see what everyone has to say about the Cubs. Tons of differing opinions (read my tag line) and some excellent discussions. I’ve notice that the amount of comments in the game threads have doubled since last year. That alone tells you how great BCB is doing. Thanks, Al, Mike and David for your hard work. It is greatly appreciated by all.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ~Voltaire

there aren’t an overabundance of Cubs fans around. However, even those that pledge allegiance to the Cardinals (they serve fries at my local fast food joint) or the Braves (nice enough to pick up trash on the side of the road dressed in these snazzy orange outfits) tell me to ‘enjoy every minute of this season as it’s looking to be special’. I tell them that I am trying to let every game soak in, every comeback, every fantastic play, every heartbreaking loss. BCB is my way to keep up. BCB is my ONLY way to keep up. Don’t know what I’d do without my morning coffee and review of threads.
I don’t post much….if I’m ever lucky enough to catch a game on the TV I’d rather watch and enjoy vs keep up with 1200 frantic “ARAM!!’ posts. But the game summaries are precious to me. Thanks Al.

You can’t find out much about the Cubs by watching local TV or reading the Commercial Appeal. I love BCB. I’m excited about the Iowa Cubs coming to Auto Zone Park next week.

I quote this place all the time
I am always using what I’ve read on here to discuss with people. I always just say Cubbie Blue website….and then if they are Cub fans I try to get them to come here. I’m sure my dad still doesn’t quiet understand what the heck I’m talking about!
It is funny that you post this as last night I was just saying to my husband that this is the best website for cub fans. I find out most news, information, and “gossip” before I do anywhere else. I am a member of other forums for teachers, pets, etc and this is by far the most comprehensive group of people around.

Thanks to all of you.
As you all know, this is a labor of love. Glad to have met so many great people through this site, either here online or at the ballpark.
And what a great year to share together. Go Cubs!

I agree immensely
Really enjoy everyday information, knowledge and laughter at this site. Hats off Toonmike, Holy and Al for all the effort.
Let us all continue this great ride.

Greatest website on the internet bar none.
It might beeeeee!! It could beeeeeee!! It issssss!! Homerun!! Holyyyyyyy Cow!!!
Yep! Agree with you all!
I love this site. I “retired” from discussion board groups years ago. This was was just too enticing to pass up. It’s like a Ryan’s Buffet bar… yummy yummy yummy. I haven’t once regretted coming out of “retirement” since joining. This is a great web site, with great people, devoted to a great team. Good times my friends!
Good times! Cheers!
This is the place!
I’ve been comming here for two years, i love being able to talk my Cubbies”. I can vent if need be or throw out my chest with pride. These are good times my friend’s, but less all remember”it’s how you finish, not how you start”..live and well in Texas

This is the only site that guarantees at least one genuine LOL per day and more often than not several, with a whopping belly laugh at least once a week. Go Cubs! Go BCB!
wow .. BCB agreement ..
maybe we can save the whales, restore the economy, and bring world peace
Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!
One problem with BCB
It’s too addicting. I find myself coming back throughout the day for updated cub news. I wish the reading wasn’t so damn good and the product wasn’t the best team in baseball right now because I can’t lick this addiction. Thanks for hooking us on this great 365 day per year site Al.
This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).
Yes, I'll agree with you here
The one thing I don’t get though is all of the posting during a game. As you’ve told me, when I watch a game, “I watch a game”, not post comments on a message board.

Good Cubs blogs are hard to find.
Al you and I have had our problems in the past and it was my fault but you were patient with me and I am very grateful for that. Can’t wait to meet you in person when I’m in the bleachers when the evil south side denizens invade our park.
One of the things I look forward to as part of the day we win the pennant and then the series is how much fun we’re going to have. I’m tempted to pack the wireless laptop into the car that night so I can get on on the way home if it’s at home and we drive (we get a parking spot if my wheelchair bound uncle goes with us the el is hard for him to manage)
I predict we’ll be here at least 24 hours straight after the last pitch.
This is also the most age diverse group I have seen of Cubs net groups. And more women fans than I’ve seen elsewhere.
Al runs a good ship. It’s not easy at times and I certainly have not made it easy on him at times.
And definitely the most active interesting in game discussion.
And the conversation can veer but it tends to be adult in nature. I don’t mean adult as in x rated adult as in grownups talking.
We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.
Trust me.
WHEN we win the World Series, the last place you will find me is on a wireless laptop. I’ll be out celebrating. You’ll have to wait till the next day to find me here.

Reading all these posts
made me think of this Toby Keith song. I changed some of the words but it’s how I feel about this blog and I’m sure all of us feel this way.
I Love This Blog
We got winners, we got losers
Chain smokers and boozers
And we got yuppies, we got bikers
We got thirsty hitchhikers
And the girls next door dress up like movie stars
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this blog
We got cowboys, we got truckers
Broken-hearted fools and suckers
And we got hustlers, we got fighters
Early birds and all-nighters
And the veterans talk about their battle scars
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this blog
Chorus:
I love this blog
It’s my kind of place
Just talkin’ through the heartaches
Puts a big smile on my face
It ain’t too far, come as you are
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this blog
I’ve seen short skirts, we got high-techs
Blue-collar boys and rednecks
And we got lovers, lots of lookers
And I’ve even seen dancing girls and hookers
And we like to drink our beer from a mason jar
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this blog
Yes I do
I like my truck (I like my truck)
I like my girlfriend (I like my girlfriend)
I like to take her out to dinner
I like a movie now and then
But I love this blog
It’s my kind of place
Just trollin’ around the comments
Puts a big smile on my face
No cover charge, come as you are
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this blog
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this blog
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings. ~Earl Wilson
Hm, the graybar actually kinda works in this instance.
Nanika Ga Okoru!
Oh, and remember, folks: Alfonso Soriano is NOT batting leadoff. He's batting first.
The gray bar
just happened by itself. I had nothing to do with it.

Yeah, it does that from time to time.
Usually, it obscures most of what was written but, in the case of your post, it actually worked as a way to emphasize that phrase.

Pay no attention to the grey bar.
In fact, you didn’t see a grey bar. There is no grey bar.

Looking for Mr. Gray Bar...
He’ll usually make an appearance if you have a leading space in your line of text.
like this
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
Interesting.
I put a leading space in this line of text. But apparently, it didn’t happen.

This site is
a wonderful place for Cub fans to celebrate and commiserate. Thanks Al for allowing us to all share our Cub love here.
Agree 100%
It’s like I get to watch games with hilarious friends. Living in Ohio, I’m a little isolated from the rest of Cubdom, even though I grew up in Chicago. It’s really fun to watch the game and learn a lot about the Cubs of today, yesterday and tomorrow.
I've told you a million times never to exaggerate!!
Big ups to all my BCB bruthaz and sistaz!!!

Ironic this post came today because last night when I was watching some friends
play volleyball, turns out one of the guys on their team loves Cubs also. As we talked about baseball I found myself quoting BCB a few times. Then told him about the site and how addictive it is.
So BCB has even been seeping into my real life.

YES!!! Thank you Al!
And thank you to everyone here for all they share. Since I live in Michigan, its nice to be with other Cubbie fans (even if it is only on the net instead of real life) and to see what everyone else is thinking, their insights and opinions about the Cubs. I enjoy BCB immensely and I’m drinking a beer to you Al, then one to the Cubs, then one for everyone here.. hehehe…. Keep up the great job Al and everyone else! GO CUBS!!!!
Thanks BCB!!!
Thanks to Al and everybody else on here who keep me informed on all Cubs related news. Go Cubs!!!!

Close to 2,000 posts last night..
on the game and overflow threads. I don’t think any other SBN site compares to BCB participation before, during and after the games. Thanks Al and BCB!

unless you count those with more than 3 words….then the number drops precipitously. And no…I’m not going to back that up with fact.

Sabermetric analysis of BCB posting.

Who cares?
A post is a post. Some posts are a yes or no answer to another post. They’re still a post. Sheesh!!!
I think it was the Pirates..
The Cubs were playing earlier in the season and I wandered over to their site late in the game and they had about 10-15 posts, and we had about 1,000. Amazing! The turd birds get a lot too, but nothing like ours.

But if you look closely...
the Cards blog is really just 8 people…of course they’re all hopped up on meth and can post 462 times an hour.

Great Post
and long overdue. I follow many sports and many teams and have many interests, but this is the only site I read regularly. Especially when I can not watch a game, then the discussion threads on the game posts are a lifeline. Thanks so much Al for starting and keeping up this site.

Thank you, Al
for your contribution and its enhancement of our mutual obsession.
A question: is BCB the most heavily hit blog in the Sportsblog empire as well as the most commented?
I don't have all the data on that...
... but yes, I think so.

Addicting it is........
Living in Pittsburgh I am very far away from Cubdom….BCB brings me closer every time I enter (which is way more than I should). I’ve made it to mecca (wrigley) twice this year…will hit it again a couple of more (excl. playoffs). Thanks Al for bridging the gap between visits and WGN broadcasts.
