Cubs Autograph?
I really could use someone's help on this one: I need to get something signed by Theriot and Fontenot for a friend of mine in Louisiana. Does anybody know how I'd go about that? I know I should probably send a self-addressed stamped envelop -- but to where and addressed to whom? Has anyone had a good signing experience with either Theriot or Fontenot? Any help or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I sent a baseball card to Theriot
at the beginning of spring training-my nephew’s a huge fan and I was hoping to surprise him. I never heard back though so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
The Cubs are not known to be a particularly good team when it comes to signing through the mail-partly, I think, because of the volume of requests they must get.
Another way
I’ve heard the mail doesn’t work well either but per the Cubs official website it says this: Fans may seek autographs from players and coaches from the time the ballpark opens until the batting practice cages are removed (approximately 45 minutes before game time). Fans will be allowed to wait at the Club Box wall on the outfield side of the dugouts. The Cubs ask that you show consideration for guests holding tickets in these seating areas. If you are seeking autographs in a seating location other than your own, you may be asked to proceed to your designated seating location.
Good luck!
Wait outside the parking lot about 30 mins after the game
There are players that WILL NEVER stop but a lot of the players stop and sign for the fans waiting outside.
One of the security guards told me that Soriano never stops UNLESS the cameras are on him. Kerry Wood has to be the most gracious to as many fans as possible (BTW, up close he is enormous, big shoulders) Derosa is great with the fans as well as Dempster. Every time Ive seen Lou he is getting driven home by Sinatro and they never stop. Jim Hendry usually ALWAYS stops, he actually seems like a really great guy.
Anyways---thats what I do, wait by the gate.
"Hey.....Cubs win!!!" ---Harry
"Swung on belted!!!"---Chip
I sat next time Hendry at ST
in 2007. Him and John McDonough and they were both nice. Took a pic. with Hendry and joked with him about buying him a beer.
Lets do it Cubbies
You can also wait...
... by the players’ parking lot BEFORE the game, although that’d mean you’d have to arrive 3-4 hours before game time.

Sometimes after, depending.
I’ve seen them sign after games too but usually want to get on their way.
How does that make you feel?

Not in Chicago
I am 2000 miles away in Los Angeles, so waiting outside the gate is not an option! I was at all four games here, but unless you had “box seats” they didn’t let you get close. I’m going to have to try the mail route—what address do I send it to?
Why don't you
see if a fellow BCBer will get it signed for you? I’m sure somebody who attends a lot of games will be glad to do it for you. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

What are you looking to get signed?
i.e. is it unique and personal or are you just looking for anything signed by the Cajun Connection.

Personal
My friend is having major back surgery after a car accident and she is really getting into the Cubs because of her “hometown” players Theriot and Fontenot since she’s from Cajun country in Louisiana. So I thought if I sent them a get well soon card to sign with a self addressed envelop they could sign it and drop it into the mail.
I in the past...
have had good luck by sending the item to the player c/o the Cubs. SOme players will answer their mail, some wont. It’s really a crapshoot.

you can go to...
www.csac.biz They post when signings are and when and how much. Theriot does alot i know this for sure. Fontenot might be tougher.

Ebay?
It wont be personalized but could be a place to hunt.
Also, talking about personalized autographs apparently Theriot only signs personalized ones. I remember people being PO’d at Cubs Convention that he did that.
Give Dempster Kudos..
After a particularly brutal outing a 2 years ago, he came to the fence and signed for a whole lot of fans. He showed a lot of class. Never see Big Z signing. I did get Prior after a game once.
Dempster is a class act.
For lack of a better term, he “gets it”. He understands that he’s being paid a ton of money to play a game and it’s all because of we the fans. So he gives back.
That’s what makes Dempster one of my favorites.

If I were you,
I would send Theriot a letter asking him to sign a card for your friend and ask if he can get Fontenot to sign it to. Briefly explain the situation as well. Send Fontenot a letter as well doing the same thing, asking if he can get Theriot to do it to.
Doubles your chances.

Hotels
My friend has had some success going to the teams hotel and waiting in the lobby. Not sure how he comes by that information, but he does.
Hotels are decent
Granted, I lived in Indianapolis so baseball wasn’t really a hot autograph market but when I was a kid, I would go to the few hotels nice/big enough to house the Pacers and Colts opponents. Then just call the front desk and ask for the punter/the 12th man. The stars always use a different name but the scrubs never do. So when the scrub would answer the phone, we politely asked if we could get his autograph. This did a few things: 1) If the guy answered, we knew we had the right hotel. 2) If the guy was cool, he would say “Yeah, I’ll sign for you, our bus leaves at 2 o’clock.” and then we would just camp out in the lobby until all the players went by.
That’s the hotel game, or at least it was ten years ago. Good luck!
"Stalking for Dummies"
Ha. That’s good stuff there. I would never ask for an autograph myself, but I do succumb to a small measure of excitement seeing stars on the street. My daughter and I waited outside the player’s lot at Wrigley last year and we saw Soriano and PIe from a distance, and we saw Zambrano’s and Santo’s cars speed away through the crowd. Nobody from the team came near the crowd to sign – but that might have been because it was getaway day and they had been pounded by the Padres.

I also thought I came
across a site called ” the silent T formation” I was thinking it was a link up to both of them.
I'm a reader not a poster, but I'm also a poster so don't get any ideas.
