Mark Mulder's Return

Mark Mulder is back with the Cardinals after  spending most of the last two years on the DL.  He was pitching out of the BP Monday night but will probably move into their rotation pretty soon.  We all know that when hes healthy Mulder is a solid pitcher as he's prved throughout his career.  He is also only 30 years old.  What kind of impact do you think he will have on the Cards and how successful do you think he'll be after missing so much time?

He’s done. His glory days are almost 5 years ago back with Barry Zito. I’d love to see him face the Cubs.

DITTO

PLEASE put him the rotation this weekend, so we can give him a warm welcome back.

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

That would be nice

It’d also be nice to have the Cards number 2 pitcher finally back in the rotation just to make them worse.

I went to a game in September of last year

BP was an accurate way to describe his pitching. {Timer pops up}

In the starting rotation. He is only going in the rotation if they are deseperate. He is not stretched out and they are deseperate for lefthanded bullpen work. Furthermore, he has charged his arm angle cause his shoulder is still not right. The verdict is out whether or not that is going to be successful. He does have more velocity on his pitches but velocity does not mean much if he can’t hit his spots.

I think he’s just up because he ran out of time on his 30 day ehab. One appearance last night, and when he gets shelled, they will DL him again, so they can have another 30 day rehab. His career is probably over.

career over

im not saying he’s going to be the pitcher he was with Oakland, but to say his career is over might be a little far-fetched. We aren’t talking about a guy entering his 40’s trying to make his final comeback. I certainly don’t think he’ll be good, but I think he could be alright.

Mulder for Haren and other stuff

One of the best trades in Oakland sports history

The fact that my A’s got a lot from a trade from Haren to the D-Backs makes the Mulder trade a whole lot sweeter.

In my dreams though, Zito, Mulder and Hudson come back home to Oakland, feel rejuvenated, and pitch like the real BIG three that they were back in the very beginning of this century.

I don't think Mulder has ever been good in Stl.

He has pitched a grand total of 105 innings that last three seasons. Him and Carpenter have become the new Prior and Woods of the NL Central.

Yawn.

Wake me up when he actually starts a game.

Reminds me of the big deal over that kid

You know the one for the Yankees went 3 innings. Oh thats right he’s a star and will fix all the Yanks problems.

Pshaw.

If the world didn't suck we would all fall off.

Shadow of his former self

But the BIGGER issue is this, the Cardinals are a good ballclub that is right in the thick of the playoff chase.

Pitching is KING. We don't add a frontline starting pitcher and a quality bullpen arm then this season will have yet another sad conclusion.

Can "playoff chase" be uttered with 81 games to go? Seems a bit early to me

Awful in Memphis

Mulder was awful at AAA Memphis. He was 0-3 with a 13.50 ERA. I don’t think he will do well for St. Louis.

I think I'll wait

to actually see if he has anything left before I actually say he has nothing left, but at this point I don’t see any reason to worry about him rejoining the cards. In fact, as some have pointed out, this could be a good thing. If I had to guess I’d say he won’t do anything to help them, but who really knows at this point?

Mulder

He is LH, throws nothing but offspeed stuff, which means he will likely dominate the Cubs. Or maybe that was last year’s cubs.
