Cubs Scorecards and Pocket Schedules
Two pretty cool sites on past Cubbie scorecards and pocket schedules. I love the artwork of the 60's and 70's.
And now I'm just trying to get in the 75 words that are required of a fan post. And hopefully this is now enough of those words that I am trying to fill in. Do Dee Do. La Dee Da. But now I'm only at 63, so I will mark on young christian soldiers, marching on to war. War, what is it good for. absolutely nothing. Say it again.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation, Bleed Cubbie Blue, or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief. FanPost opinions are, however, valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

I have been collecting scorecards
off ebay. I only collect the full size (8 1/2×11) scorecards with the recognizable art (Otis Shepard did some very famous Wrigley Gum ads as well…do a google on his name and you will see some great art)
I have all of them from 1943-1981 with a couple from the 20’s and 30’s. Very cool collectible especially when they are scored.

I like collecting the unscored ones.
I’ve got pretty much exactly the collection you do, all unscored.

Wondering how/if you display them
I wanted to frame them, but 8 1/2×11 frames are hard to come by…
Was thinking about doing an album. Right now they are in a box. Shame.
I do prefer the mint uncreased unscored cards but I like the kitsch of seeing Clemente’s and Mays’ game line, etc.

At the moment I have them in binders...
... that’d be a lot of frames!

8-1/2" x 11" Frames
I actually found some very-cheap-but-passable, letter-sized frames at Walmart for an unrelated framing project I was doing (I think they were $2). Might not be the most attractive alternative, but it would take some of the sting out of your wallet for framing more than half a century’s worth of scorecards.
Otherwise, you can use record-sized frames to fit a scorecard. That will leave extra room for surrounding white-space and/or matting. I’ve done this for a single scorecard, but it would get pricy and take up A LOT of room if you started to do it for everything.
Of course, having said this I only have all my scorecards stacked on a shelf so maybe I shouldn’t be one to talk :)

I'm thinking of framing all of them on a wall or as a border to a room
I’ve found frames at stores, but even at $5 that’s $250. Plus I’d have to get them special ordered.
Now the real hard part. Convincing the woman.

I love the pic ...
on the 2008 pocket schedule. Rammy’s walkoff HR against the Brewers. Just looking at their faces as he is about to touch home plate is priceless.

I miss the Art
on the cards from the 60’s and 70’s. Most of the scorecards I have are from my youth. I love checking out the prices of the tickets, food, and other stuff. My dad taught me how to score the game and I taught my kids. It is amazing the hall of famers that I saw at Wrigley.

Didn't know you were a member of BCB..
..or I would have given you proper credit. I saw this on Uniwatch.com today.
Anyway, it’s a great site!

I too have used the site to confirm dates on cards that don’t have the year, etc.
Wondering how many of these cards are yours vs. sent from others.
Great job!

If you look on the individual pages...
I have given credit to the people who passed along scans of their cards. My personal oldest card right now is a 1944. A couple of the 50’s are mine. All the ones from 1960 on (with the exception of the 1962 regular season card and the 1964 card) are my cards.

I love those 30's Blue Valley Butter ones
I can get those around $50 on ebay. Wonder if I’m bidding against anyone on here…
The World Series programs fetch 200-250 ea. Some joker sells “scanned reproductions” for $4.95 which I guess might be good to fill a display until you get the scratch to get a real one…
