Tip your cap to Cain

That was masterful. Marquis was also pretty nice tonight. I don’t like giving this game to them and then saying we would have won if Sori and Aram were there. I agree that Fontenot, Cedeno, and Marquis is similar to what the Giants were throwing out there in the 7th, 8th, and 9th spots, but we are a 50 win team at the half-way mark. We have to find ways to win when the big boys are not there.

We need to give Jimmy a game or two to sit. When we all thought he would be a cancer to this line-up, he has been playing hurt because we had no other options, and he has earned my respect. Just a thought.

Game Management

Lou outmanaged himself again tonight.

Batting The Riot in the 7th was not very smart. Because he did that he burned a pinch hitter on an already short bench and needed to use another one the very next inning for the pitcher. There is no way Geo scores on a double and it is questionable if he can score from second on a single. If he does not pinch hit the Riot in the 7th, he can use him in the 8th or if Cedano would have gotten a hit he could have used the Riot in the 7th. He needed to preserve EPat for the 9th Inning for pinch running duties. He need to think about what was potentially coming up in the 8th and 9th inning when making these decisions with a short bench

Just poor game management in that situation

my boom box is an old school one. it still has a tape player and cd player on it

at a friends softball game the other night and one of the guys is a cubs fan. we were talking baseball….. his less than a year old stereo system he can’t pull it in. I can pull it on my boom box in a variety of different places here in Madison. I was amused and grateful

I dont use the tape player much

but I do enjoy audio books and hardly anyone rents the books on tape anymore at the library… so then I have a bigger selection b/c I can choose from tapes or cds

i do love books on tape

if you’re ever looking for digital ones, you should try audible.com

they’re cheaper than tapes usually. love them.

I've never tried the books on tape thing.

Do you do it mostly at home? In the car?

I clean homes

so I started b/c it gave me something different to listen besides music or talk radio.

the books on cd are great in the car. I have a friend who travels Madison to Chicago for work somewhat regularly and she loves listening to them in car.

Do you rewind a lot?

I’m one of those that reads every word and sometimes I like to read a paragraph over just to make sure I understand it.

Sometimes i rewind

thats where tapes come in handier than CDs.

the commerical audio books are at a good pace, they don’t read “reallyfastlikethis with almostnobreaks”. (thats hard to imitate in txt, lol)

Did you hear him go off on that guy...

suggesting the Cubs start Cedeno at SS? He’s done that several times already.

You’d think Theriot and him are related or something

BB seem to be changing some, but not Kaplan.

it would be easier to argue against riot if he were a jerk

but b/c he comes off as such a nice guy who hustles, etc its hard to get people to see all the things he’s doing wrong.

True that.

This is about the only place I see criticisim of him. I was at a party not too long ago, and I brought up something about using Ronny more or getting another SS, and the looks I got!! And then all I heard was, “are you kidding me?”, best SS in the league, yada, yada, yada…

gotten those same looks

it just astounds me how many people pass off riot’s stats as “just numbers”. i’m not big into the stat-thing. i love some of them, but i don’t think EVERYTHING is quantifiable, but when the numbers speak of a trend you need to start watching closer.

Exactly...

The average fan still looks at BA as the most important stat. It’s the first thing you see on tv and in the papers. The MSM need to do a better job of educating fans on some of the other stats of the game.
