I have a question for anyone who may know!

I’m not getting ahead of myself, just curious how this works:

Say Harden goes on to pitch spectacularly for the rest of the season, is he eligible for the Cy Young? Just curious if that’s possible for any pitcher changing leagues.

...such as if the tickets turn out to be bogus or something. StubHub offers guarantees. And I think if the game is canceled (rained out, whatever), on StubHub you get a full refund, not just a refund of the face value.

by ChipSet on Jul 12, 2008 2:39 PM CDT up reply actions

well

I paid via Paypal on my credit card, so if I’m defrauded, I can get the money back. If the game’s rained out, I’ll get replacement tix. I don’t think the face value of these tickets are that low, $65 each is a pretty good price.

But there’s a lot of baseball left. It will be interesting to see if that keeps up. However, given that Up 4 doesn’t lose stat…and the Cubs offense, this could be ridiculous.

I thought

Hendry would really go after C.C. this winter before the Harden trade, but now if Harden remains healthy I think they pick up his option and I’m not sure they need to spend more on C.C. but then again we could let Demp walk for draft picks.

If Rich can come back to form

I think we’d have too many SP, signed for much, much less than what CC is going to sign for. Save that money and go out and get a Center fielder. Or, perhaps, sign CC and trade for a CF?

Lou Must Know

that St Louis and Milwaukee are going to lose today, the way he just left Marmol out there to hang himself.

I'm gone....I can't watch this crap anymore....

Mis-managed, Marmol should have been long gone…..Marmol needs to go to Iowa to find a fastball and home plate.

Who do we have left in the pen?

Just Leiber and Wood?

I assume Lou doesn’t want to use Wood or he would have brought him in for the save earlier?

by Texas Wahoo on Jul 12, 2008 3:36 PM CDT reply actions

I think hes just trying to get all the guys some work

because you cant leave the relievers without work from now until the end of the allstar break

Wow

I was out watching the game and left in the 7th and just came home to see this! What the hell, it looks like Marmol got rocked and Theriot made a bad error huh? Piniella should have left Harden in too. Garrrr

I like the current Harden strategy.

Let him get his win, build up a comfortable lead and take him out.

by Schizo on Jul 12, 2008 4:05 PM CDT up reply actions

wow marmol u need so help fast

did it look like to you guys he threw way more sliders than fastballs. come on if you have a fastball at 94-96 use it, u don’t need to use the slider for everything. Its just frustrating, although he is a cub i’m glad the fans booed him badly. it might be a wakeup call

by lexmarklover on Jul 12, 2008 3:50 PM CDT reply actions

o btw i forgot to mention that lou pinella might be a good manager at some things but

he doesn’t know how to handle the bullpen. SEVEN run lead and you use everybody except your closer and your long reliever. That’s just stupid. There’s a reason why u have chad gaudin and there’s no excuse for using him for 2/3 of an inning. I woulda put him out there for the next inning. Lou is just stupid when it comes to pitchers, and neil cotts a third of an inning just not smart whatsoever.

Santo is so fun to listen to....

..... this game and so many others, he leaves nothing on the table. The lows of the ninth and the joyful giggling of the 11th. He’s what it is all about.

Concerned

As nice as it has to see them pull out a win after that horrible 9th, I’m pretty concerned right now about the pen. Marmol in his current state is unusable not only in close games, but in any game (as his performance with a 7-2 lead today demonstrated). And Wood seems unavailable – a blister situation – and let’s hope it’s not more than that. So the two relievers who proved most valuable the first three months of the season are question marks. I’m not panicking – I’m assuming Wood is OK and Marmol we already knew was having troubles. And we do have Gaudin. Marshall looked great today in relief. But still, I’m concerned.

WTF???

I checked the score earlier, saw 7-0, and was happy. And I come to find out that Marmol gives up 5 and they have to win in extra innings?

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with Marmol? This wasn’t even walks that killed him. He needs to figure it out, cause I sure as hell don’t trust Bob Howry as our second best reliever. You need good relief to do well in the playoffs.
