Video of 10-year old kid drinking Beer at Wrigley Field

And when I say kid ... I mean 10-year old.

Hmmm.

Well, let me be the contrarian here. The comments on the link above basically say, “What’s the big deal?”

Well, it is a big deal. Kids shouldn’t drink beer. And the Cubs risk losing their liquor license if they allow underage drinking, which is why they are constantly throwing people out of the bleachers for doing it.

There are enough alcohol problems in this country without starting a 10-year-old kid on it.

Agree, but...

My wife grew up in Europe, and she is constantly amazed at the histrionics that go with our view of alcohol in this country.

I think that some of the societal issues with alcohol stem from making it so taboo. Assuming its just a sip under parental supervision, I can’t get all worked up.

Probably shouldn’t do it in public, however.

Let my ashes blow in a beautiful snow from the prevailing 30 mile an hour southwest wind...
When my last remains go flying over the left field wall, I'll bid the bleacher bums adieu,
And I will come to my final resting place, out on Waveland Avenue. --Steve Goodman

I agree many people overreact about alcohol drinking.

But this is different. We are talking about a little kid here. He shouldn’t be drinking alcohol at his age. And he shouldn’t be sipping beer in public either, as he gives a bad example to others, it’s illegal and it’s probably bad for his body at his age.

I agree

and the issue is nuanced enough that’s it’s difficult to discuss on a bulletin board. It’s not something that I would condone in public, but demystifying alcohol is an important part of responsible education… I hesitate to go farther into this territory…

Thats definitely a cold one, all right.

DEROSA: How did it feel when you're sitting in Baton Rouge and it came across the ticker that Mark DeRosa had just signed to play second base with the Chicago Cubs.

THERIOT: In all honestly, when I saw it, I really felt like punching you right in the mouth and or breaking your leg.

Wow...parents are lucky that the kid wasn't caught by security

or the kid could end up in Child Protective Services custody like this “Mike’s Hard Lemonade” drinking seven-year-old at a Detroit Tigers game:

I caught that on TV

I had to use the DVR 15 sec rewind feature to make sure I saw it correctly. I even called in the better half to confirm that was what I saw. You could see the dad (or older gentlemen to his left) hand it to him. Len and Bob were chatting and then went completely silent after for about 5 sec. You could tell they were in astonished just like I was wondering if that was what they just saw. Just no good parenting.

Im glad I wasnt the only one who noticed this

Because I saw this and was astonished at seeing it.

Buster Olney said a few days ago that the Braves would entertain offers for their 26 year old shortstop (who makes 450k) Yunel Escobar. He is a plus bat, a solid defender, and would move Theriot to his more appropriate position at second.

They are looking for a bat in return. Apparently Cox doesn't like the guy.

I couldn't even speculate what we'd have to send them in return, but I think he would be a good fit given his low salary, his productive bat, his position, and his age. I don't care if he's a jerk if he makes the team win more.

What would it take?
