Not a big deal, but the Cubs have only been in 1st Place since May 10th.
On May 9th, the Cardinals were up by a game
You are correct
Missed that on my spreadsheet. Still, 2 months with the target on our backs and we are still holding on,

I find interesting
Best record in NL (tied w/ the BoSox for best in all of baseball)
only 10 more wins and will top the horrid 06 season.

Not to nitpick
but they are tied with the Angels for the best record in baseball.

And the Diamondbacks are in first place with a record one game under .500.
Embarrassing.

Let's hope they remember to be embarassing next week....

The Angels run differential is +21 compared
...to the Cubs ML best of +106…I’m not saying, I’m just saying.
A +21 most likely will come back to bite you in the end….just like the Brewers +13 and the Cardinals +23.
Lets hope so…
Not always in the same season though, look at the '07 Mariners.
"It’s like they have 40,000 players on one team. Forty thousand people want to be in the dugout slapping fives. ‘Passionate’ is an understatement. Fans like that are special." -- Giants LHP Alex Hinshaw on Wrigley Field
Or the '07 D-Backs
But if I were a betting man, I’d bet on both those teams coming back to earth. Especially the Cardinals.
Pythagorean record
is 58-37, maybe you typo’d that but it’s only 1 game difference now. Earlier in the season, that differential was 3-4 games.
So with the Pythagorean rule, they’d be up 8.5 (8 in the L column) on the Birds and 9 on the BrewCrew. Instead its 5 games up on each team in the L column with a magic number of 63.
Sweet Lou for Mayor in '11.
All this does...
... is show you how much larger the Cubs’ run differential (+106) is than the Cardinals’ (+23) or the Brewers’ (+13).
Despite the recent bullpen struggles, this, I think, shows how much stronger the Cubs’ pitching staff is, top to bottom, than St. Louis’ or Milwaukee’s.
