Cubs team record/results other than 57-38 at ASB

Okay the Cubs are tied with the Angels for the best record in each of their respective leagues, both 19 over .500.

  1. What is the Cubs record with and without Soriano?
  2. What is the Cubs record outside of playing Pittsburgh?
  3. What is the Cubs record outside of playing the NL West?
  4. How does this compare to the remaining schedule and opponents?

Star-divide

  1. Soriano has been out twice, April 13th to May 1st Cubs were 10-5 and then again June 12th and July 18th (expected) and the Cubs were 14-14 or 24-19 or .558 clip. With Soriano Cubs are 33-19  (.634), based on this Cubs should win 42-43 games down the stretch, (99-100 wins).
  2. Cubs are 9-3 against Pittsburgh this year, they have 6 games remaining, and will win either 4 or 5 games....BTW Pittsburgh is 6 games under .500 or playing even against the league outside the Cubs.
  3. Cubs are 7-4 (.636) against the NL East and 22-17 (.564) take out Pitt and they are one below .500, they are 22-8 (.733) against the NL West. Cubs have 3 games remaining against the NL West (win 2 more), Cubs have 21 games remaining against the NL East and should win 13 of them. Against the NL Central they have 43 games remaining and they should win 24-25 games. Looking at it this way 39-40 wins
  4. Cubs have 37 games remaining against contenders right now, (30 against non contenders), meaning if the go 19-18, to get to 40 they would have win 20 out of 30 against the rest.
  5. Cubs are 37-12 at home and have 32/67 games remaining and should win 24-25 games, they thus have 35 games on the road and should win 15-16 games or matching with 40 or so wins. Improve the road record and they run away with the division.

38-29 Record Would Make Me Happy

The Cubs can go 20-12 at home the rest of the way. They can post a 18-17 record on the road. That would add up to 38-29 and give the Cubs a 95-67 overall record. I still think 95 wins will win the division. Of course, after that, get 11 wins in the playoffs.

Got swept by Tampa and the White Sox.

Swept the White Sox and took two of three from Toronto.

Lost two of three to Baltimore, one of those losses was due in large part to an Eric Patterson misplay.

We’ll be OK.

Let's see...

Home…4-2

Road…2-7

Looks just a little worse than the overall record…and we faced some pretty tough teams in the White Sox and Rays (away). Wouldn’t say we sucked, caught two good teams at home, one on a hot streak.

August is the Key Month

Pull up the Cubs’ August schedule and look at all that blue! With Soriano in the lineup and Rich Harden added to the rotation, we have the chance to pad our division lead nicely before a tough September. Not to mention one of the road series that month is Pittsburgh…

+1

If we can rock August, we should be fine.
