Cubs on Parade

Hello all,

Just a quick post to share some All-Star Parade photos and a story.  I took my two kids to 6th Ave. to see the parade hoping to catch a small glimpse of a few players, but was surprised to find that despite the number of spectators the parade was rather intimate.  We learned early on that the players could quite clearly hear the fans as their trucks crawled along uptown.  My 3 year-old daughter grabbed the crest of her Cubs jersey and screamed "Cubbbieeeeesss!" at all the right times, and just about every player gave her a wave or shouted hello.  Ryan Dempster, in particular, was very kind, carrying on a short conversation with her during a slowdown in the procession.

Here are a few shots from the afternoon:

Thanks for posting

I love flickr, specially the All Sizes feature. Other website only let you see the small web version of your photos.

BTW, Lou’s wife is a hottie and she’s probably old enough to be my mom. haha

Go ahead, Z me.

Some more...

It was tough holding onto two kids (ages 3 & 5) and getting good pix of everybody, so not all the pictures came out great, but I managed to get a few of Dempster, Marmol and Geo. I’m really bummed that I didn’t get a single shot of Fukudome and Ernie Banks riding together, though.

I did get a picture of Bob Gibson that totally sums up everything that I’ve imagined about his personality…guy can’t even have fun at a parade.

Thanks!!

I love seeing how some dressed up and some dressed down for the occasion. Really like the pictures of the players and their families.

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to post these as embedded photos so we can see them without clicking links, then back, then another link, etc.

You can still click on through to see the large versions.

I imagine he was.

A parade in NYC and the recognition he got as one of the all-time greats? Good for Billy. He was always one of my favorites.
