Joe Morgan got Ryne-itis agian
Apparently, Joe Morgan was bedridden with Ryne-itis (also known as Sandberg Syndrome) the night of the All-Star Game.
How else do you explain his conspicuous absence from the other Hall of Famers at 2nd base during the pregame introductions?

I noticed the same thing
I’m starting to seriously wonder if Morgan is a little bit goofy in the head when it comes to the Cubs in general and Sandberg in particular.

The question becomes...
... was Morgan invited and refused? We don’t know this. Those guys didn’t suddenly just show up—they had to be invited.
Until and unless we find out that Morgan was invited and refused, I’ll reserve judgment.
God, I can’t believe I’m actually defending Joe Morgan here. Forgive me.

If you look at the pictures from the pregame
ceremony though, it looks like there is another star at second base where no one is standing. I really think that was there for Morgan.

You may very well be right.

What an egomaniac.
Oh well. I much prefer it to having Morgan there and Sandberg not.
I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling, so why don't we just ignore each other til we go away.

Morgan is consistently
too much of a wuss to face Sandberg, and consistently takes awkward swipes at Sandberg at the most inopportune times during his broadcasts (when he’s not consistently talking about how consistency is important for a ballplayer).

Sandberg is a much bigger class act then Morgan
Your right, he just doesnt want to come face to face with him. Nice tag name by the way

Here's What's Funny
This whole thing exists only in Little Joe’s mind. It’s not as if there was a national referendum on “Who Is The Greatest Second Baseman of All Time” and Joe lost to Ryno by less than ten votes…at least to my knowledge. Morgan actually believes himself to be the best ever 2B, and the fact that another player came along with a better overall skill set galls him to no end. The fact that Ryno is Caucasian only makes matters worse.
I bet Ryno’s even taller than Joe, too!

And it's not even close. Baseball Reference lists Sandberg as 6'2, Morgan as 5'7.

What I don't understand is
why doesn’t he hate Jeff Kent, too? Kent passed Ryno on the home run list for second basemen. Makes no sense to hate the one, but not the other. I will say this, though. Joe’s daughter is very attraactive.

Kent's SF Connection Helps
I know Kent’s been a Dodger, but he was with the Giants a long time, and if you have any sort of connection with the Bay Area then Joe gives you a free pass.

not his record
Kent broke Sandberg’s HR record, not Joe’s.
And Kent didn’t come out of retirement to do it (not that that was the reason Sandberg came back) which is what I think cheeses off Morgan the most.
