these things tend to even out over time
this is just a game where no bounces are going our way…and lack of timely hitting isn’t helping either.
But look at how many of their timely hits have been off of the end of the bat. Some nights are like that.

Fukudome’s home/road splits are incredible. DeRosa has a pretty significant one as well, although less so than Kosuke.
Other than that, it might have something to do with the intangibles – the confort of sleeping ni your own bed, having your own routine, all things like that.

According to Baseball-Reference.
I apologize in advance because I don’t know how to do the trick where you can embed a hyperlink into a word…
Pitching: The ERA is a quarter-run better at home. They’ve also given up more walks and more homers on the road, albeit in 5 more games (don’t know whether or not tonight’s is included). They’ve struck out nearly 80 batters less on the road as well.

Hitting: OBP over 60 points higher, and SLG almost 100 points higher at Wrigley. That pretty much says all you need to know…

Hope this helped…

BUY THIS MAN A DRINK!
Well done CJ. I suspected the offense was suffering more on the road than the pitching was and you’ve seemed to find supporting evidence.
So what’s the solution? Get Soriano back, get Dome going (or bat him lower), and concentrate on good, patient at bats. Trying to do too much and hit 7-run homers with one swing would be the worst thing to do.

Carlos Zambrano and Rich Harden. Now that's a pair of Aces.
This game is just totally frustrating...
.....the Astros haven’t had one freaking solid hit all night.
Nobody cares about your fantasy league team
that's why I find it odd that so many BCB posters
seem ready to jump off the ledge. It is not like Lilly or Z got pounded. We just need our bats to wake up. They will.
The Cubs have (by a wide margin) the biggest run differential in baseball. These things tend to balance out a bit over time. Let’s just hope the funk ends soon.

I'd call that triple pretty solid.
At Wrigley, that ball would be in the batter’s eye

Cedeno
And for those that believe this version of Ronny Cedeno is any better than the horrible one that has paraded around Wrigley for the past few years, think again. He’s the same atrociously inept baseball player that has been coming to the park and not improving. Mentally, he’s perhaps in the bottom 10% in all of baseball. Physically, he’s a marginal hitter, an average runner, a mediocre defender. Nothing more, nothing less. But his starts should be minimal.
Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?
Yawn...

Late Inning Defensive Replacement
might be his best position. At least until he’s traded for Brian Fuentes. :-)
Eat More Katsui
Its a bitter pill to swallow
but they are not the same team w/out Soriano.
Remember – they lost the first two games in the first half, right?
Agreed on Cedeno. I’d rather have Pablo Ozuna now – at least he’s useful. Unfortunately, for us Cub fans, he’s out of minor league options.
Players get hurt
Milwaukee lost their number 2 pitcher early. St. Louis has been a month without Wainwright. They also lost the best player in baseball for three weeks. They aren’t faltering.
This Cubs team loses one guy, and they all go into a massive funk. Who knew they could get rattled like that?

Sounds about right...
My internet is being strange, so BR won’t load, but I’ll take your word for it. Still, they played far better with him.
This team has been pretty good avoiding the major injury bug, especially compared to our rivals to the south.

Remember earlier in the
year, when they lost, often the Brew and Cards lost too. Not now. And the road play is exascerbating it. Why can’t one of the “All Stars” step up NOW?
I'd be nice if
all the Debbie Bowners would just stay in this thread when the new one comes up.

Since baseball relies
on statistics, I challenge you to look at the road splits and see how many games the Cubs have won on the road, in the 7th inning or later. I would guess it would be only a couple, if at all.
Id much rather have Sabathia then Harden
3 starts to harden’s 1…

Doesnt most of this have to do with the fact that so many of us
waited basically a week to watch our team again, and this is not we all waited for. I am very guilty of being a Debbie Downer, but I, and others, are just frustrated.

are we supposed to be happy about this game?
as long as the comments are directed at our play over the last two days, and not the whole season, what do you expect?
