Should Huston Street be our Howry replacement?
I know they are found in the rumor mill but apparently Billy Beane is remaining in Oakland since the trade deadline is quickly approaching. Rumor has it Huston Street may be available. I realize we may not have what it takes and then again, maybe we do. We have minor league pitching that looks promising, we also have position players to trade in our system. After the Harden trade, it appears that Beane and Hendry work well together and this of course, comes on the heels of yet another Bob Howry blow up.
I know he is a closer by trade but hey, an arm like his would be a nice addition to a sometimes shoddy bullpen.
Not sure what your take is...I'm curious.

Now MLBTR says
the Brewers may be “eyeing” Street. I do not want them to add any more strength to their staff. CC goin 3-0 and 2 complete games makes me mad enough.
Calm down.
Oh, man. I didn't even know about...
...Sabathia’s start last night until I read this. Here’s the complete story for those interested in getting further depressed. All we can hope right now is that Ned Yost burns out CC’s arm by the time September rolls around.
I’m afraid I don’t know enough about Huston Street to weigh in much on your trade idea. His ERA is a bit high this season but, otherwise, his numbers look good. He finished ‘07 with a .94 WHIP – dang.
To be honest, I’m not sure that Hendry has anyone left to deal that Beane would want. And I’m not sure how much deeper Hendry should allow Beane to dig into the Cubs farm system. Also, I haven’t completely given up on Howry, though it is starting to get a bit late in the season to write off these failed appearances. His fastball just doesn’t seem to have the bite it once did.
Nanika Ga Okoru!
I think Beane is a reasonable man...
Maybe they don’t have what it takes but after Howry’s performance last night, I think it is time to look for another 7-8th inning guy.
Problem also is, pitch calling. Tejada fouled off several high fastballs last night before he hammered the one for a GR double. I love Soto but Howry’s only unhittable pitch seemed to be the breaker.
Calm down.

I'm a big fan of Street's.
he’s close to gaining man-crush status, but there’s no room for him right now since I’m crushingon Jonathon Broxton. That dude is sick.
CRAFTY BEAVER!!!
I'm a fan too...
but I think I’ll stick to my Erin Andrews crush..:)

Dont tease me like so!
It would be nice, but I wonder what good ole BB would ask for and would we have the goods to grab him!

Street isn't a free agent until after 2010
Right? If so, it’ll take a healthy offer to get him, even if he’s on the block.
question
trying to figure this one out—-do we hope cc plays horribly and his market goes down enough for the brewers to afford him or hope he continues at his current pace and prices himself where only the yankees can afford him?
Dear SBnation, We need our own server here at BCB seeing how its became very slow due to enormous amounts of traffic. P.S. Impeach Bud Selig!!!
I go with he sucks ass
and does not help the Brewers catch the Cubs in 2008. I could care less about 2009 right now.
Calm down.

Lol
No matter how much CC might suck from here on out the Brewers will not be able to afford him. Let’s just say hypothetically that if he has a poor second half with a new team in a new league he’s not going to come down off of his next contract demands. He’s not going to ask $13 million per instead of say $18 million per if he sucks for the Brewers. Not going to happen.
I don’t know where he’ll end up because he seems to want to go west but the money is going to lure him east, but I would venture to guess that there’s next to no chance he stays in Milwaukee area.

Street
Would be a nice addition. Probably a bit expensive talent wise considering what his role will be but given Howry and Marmols struggles and Kerry’s likely DL visit having a guy like Street or Fuentes wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Unless any of us want Wuertz closing down the stretch? Yeah, me either.
