Entire game changes in postseason
What I think Not Bruce was saying, though, was that let’s get to the playoffs, then get through the NL, before we worry about the AL
And, as much as I like the Rays, I think they could be a 2006 Detroit situation … they’ll do fine in the playoffs until they realize, “Oh, crap, we’re in the WS,” and then fold under pressure
makes the ASG all the more important

It's a crock that it means anything to begin with.
It;s supposed to be an exhibition game, a showcase for the game’s best. They should either go back to alternating years or go with whichever team has the better record.

stupid baserunning, and bunting with the #4 hitter.
I know, I know…I’ve said this already. But it’s so stupid it bears repeating.

Remember when we had the worst record in the NL...
...and everyone thought they were going to walk away with the league?
i know
they should’ve run away from that division…. but its okay w/ me they haven’t

.500 ball would've run away from that division
i don’t think expecting them to play that is unreasonable.

Murton
Saw on MLBtraderumors today that the Rays are looking at Murton….wonder what they would give up for him?
A couple of jugs of freshly squeezed Tropicana?
You think Hendry could try tricking them into thinking that David Price guy isn’t all that good?
Kidding of course…..but only a little bit. I think there is a clause somewhere in the paperwork from when they gave Tampa Bay a team 11 years ago that if they are ever in 1st place at the ASB that they have to do anything in their power to fix their mistake.
Doesn't make sense...
Their glaring weakness is in RF. Do they know how bad Murton is in RF?

I wouldn't mind having Crawford,
but I don’t think he’s a CF.

No, I mean he's their left fielder and he's not doing so hot.
And they seem to want a righty to go with him.
OK, that makes sense.
They want Murton, but aren’t trading Crawford?
JMO, but I think Nady is better than Murton, and can play RF.

why is it that the Cubbies seems to always give up HRs to the least known players?

because that would have been stupid
you don’t intentionally bring up the tying run
by Shanghai Badger on Jul 2, 2008 11:05 PM CDT up reply actions
I understand, but still
that’s not a good strategy
by Shanghai Badger on Jul 2, 2008 11:06 PM CDT up reply actions
So they didn't bring the tying run to the plate?
I’d say that’s a pretty good reason.

In that ball park, Aurilia is still not the tying run.

So what?
He still might hit one. No manager in baseball would ever walk someone intentionally in that situation.
Think.

Dusty would...
You do remember he’s still managing right?
if dusty would do it
i think that means no other manager should

I really should stop in to some once in a while to see how much they love ‘ol Dustbag.
I suppose if you call sending the players out there
and telling them not to clog the bases “managing,” then, yes, Dusty is managing.

Quality start for Dempster
Two runs, six innings. I suspect he won’t pitch in the seventh, since Marmol was warming up.
