Soriano to have Rehab Assignment
on Monday in Arizona with the Cubs' rookie team. Tuesday he will then join Triple-A Iowa for their game in Tucson on Tuesday. If All goes well he will hopefully be a spark to this sputtering Cubs offense.
It's definitely better that he goes on this rehab assignment rather than jumping into a major league game. We all saw how it took Soriano a week or two to get back up to par after his last DL stint.

We'll see if he really joins the I-Cubs...
I wouldnt be so confident that he’ll join the I-Cubs… rumor has it that he might just get activated tomorrow night after his minor league game.
As far as I’m concerned, he cant come back a moment too soon… Say what you will about his bat at the top of the lineup, but it will improve this team.
More specifically, I’m looking forward to his defense. In Z’s last start DeRo made a throw to the plate that was way offline and Soto was 5-6 feet off the plate toward first base trying to snare the throw as the run scored. A better throw makes it a close play and I believe that Soriano makes a throw good enough to get the runner. Lets not forget that when he’s NOT misplaying easy flyballs he’s got a cannon (the kind that shoots bulletts, not a cybershot) of an arm thats fairly accurate.
One thing you learned as a Cubs fan: when you bought you ticket, you could bank on seeing the bottom of the ninth.

I know Soriano will WANT to come back today (Monday) if he does OK in the AZL game. But they may want him to do a couple more games. We’ll see. I also want him back ASAP.

I'd rather
have a more confident Soriano because he has been in live game situations instead of him being back too early. If he comes back after only one game I doubt he’d be able to continue where he left off.
Our offense needs him to start producing the first game he plays in. Not the fifth.
DEROSA: How did it feel when you're sitting in Baton Rouge and it came across the ticker that Mark DeRosa had just signed to play second base with the Chicago Cubs.
THERIOT: In all honestly, when I saw it, I really felt like punching you right in the mouth and or breaking your leg.
