I have no issue with Harden, if he can stay healthy, which is something I hope for, but do not expect.

But he does not walk on water, and he’s not the best pitcher in baseball. The best starting pitchers in baseball go deeper in the games they start.

Offense is devolving to the feast or famine offense of the past

We’ve got to get back to the approach of earlier in the season. It’s not just being patient and taking the walk. It’s also doing the little things like poking the ball the other way, puting on the hit and run, etc.

Right now we are incapable of manufacturing a run. That is doomsday recipe for the postseason when you typically face exceptional pitching.

Expectations are great....

NEVER EVER meeting them makes some of us upset. Especially when you live in St. Louis and you have to be reminded of FAILURE constantly. Those of us who are frustrated have every right to be frustrated. We live with it. It is earned. We don’t (at least I don’t) chase down perpetually optimistic comments (and commenters) and harass them for their posts. Why do you time share buyers consistently berate any comment made out of frustration (appropriate ones mind you)? Just state your optimistic takes and stop rebutting frustration and branding people as “Naysayers” or “trolls”

but the original post I guess. I can understand that. However…I do see plenty of “celebratory” profanity (even the use of the F bomb) in positive instances and no one chastises them. Just saying , why should it matter if it is used to express both joy and frustration? Profanity is still profanity.

well, I would argue that "intent" plays a role here as well, but overall, I agree with you.

I understand profanity escaping from the mouth in the heat of the moment, but it takes a little time and a bit of effort to actually type profanity, even if it’s only the garden variety four letter kind. And then you still have to hit the post key.

The psychology/sociology of the posters here (including myself) continue to fascinate me. There is a thesis just waiting to be written here….

Thanks...I guess....

I have been reading this site forever, but I never take the time to comment. This game (both Harden games….the poor dude) have been too frustrating to take silently. My wife is getting tired of me going to sleep angry (sadly, these losses really wear on me in this darn town), and I thought that more people would be frustrated than just me. Therefore, I can wash my mind clean in the open community of like-minded people. I so rarely get to talk with Cub fans in real life, so this just has to suffice. Most people in St. Louis get to hang with their cronies at the bar and be frustrated about tonights game. I doubt that a table of optimistic types (though…that is mostly what they all are here) sits down at the frustration table and starts judging their “fanhood”.

Also, I think you may be on to something about the sunshine squad. I will be critical in my analysis in every game. And critical is not a negative term. I will love the wins, and look closely at them to see how/where they were acheived and I will do the same for the losses. As fans, we can watch games like sheep, or we can peel the layers off and look into the critical moments/decisions that created victory or found defeat.

Exactly tapdeer,

I played basketball in High School, and we had a pretty good team. Every loss was frustrating and when we went back to the locker to say we were a little ticked off is putting it mildly! No winning team, or fan, takes losing easy. Losers take losses easy, not winners. We’ve got a good baseball team here, therefore, these kinds of efforts are unacceptable. And when they lose like this, expect to hear a lot of pissed off people. We’re getting used to winning, and as a Cub fan for 44 years, it feels good!

Man....I couldn't agree more....

As a former athelete, and current coach, who is/was used to winning, losses hurt. Without going to far down, you need to reflect so that you remember why you need to perform better next time. Not saying that the cubs aren’t trying of course (that would be crazy), but without being able to go out there and play ourselves, we have to find ways to get negativity out of our system so that we can enjoy them the next time they play….and hopefully win (or at least entertain…which they did not do tonight!).

I don’t know why the offense is so terrible on the road. Maybe it is just dumb luck that they hit all of their bumpy streaks on the road and their hot streaks at home.

This team is too good to suck this bad on the road. You hope it does not become mental with them…

I hope I am wrong but I am expecting a not so good season from the bears this year. I expect a lot of low scoring losses…but we shall see. Have to play the games.

Can't believe he's still there...

What’s their record under his watch? Has to be one of the worst in football.

It’s like the Blackhawks – we’re sadly going to have to wait for the owner to die until the club improves.

Wow...just looked up the Lion's record since Millen took over...
