Good Places To Watch the Cubs While Travelling

Hi there.  I just came back from spending 3 weeks in the desert north of Las Vegas on a physics experiment, and I found a restaurant (good breakfast place, also) in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas to watch Cubs games with Cubs fans.  It is called "Omelet House" and the owner Iggy is a rabid Cubs fan who has Cubs posters, bats, and other stuff on his wall--including a satellite subscription to as many Cubs games as he can get.  Having lived in DC for a number of years where there is NO place I've found to watch the Cubs in a Cubs-centric bar while having a drink, or eating dinner, I was wondering if there are any other places (outside of Illinois and Iowa) where you can do that?  I remember being in Boulder, CO once and going to a bar that seemed Cubs-centric, but don't remember  any others.  Anyone have any tips on restaurants or bars to frequent when traveling on business outside of Chicago that are Chicago-sports-centric?

Wrigley Field Bar and Grill

6527 S. State St Fort Wayne, Indiana. Decent bar but turned into a yuppie/college kid hangout and I quit going when I was in town.

Dang, hit post instead of preview. I've been trying to find a place like that here in Louisville

but it’s all KY Wildcats and Louisville Cardinal crap. Can’t stand either one.

Pretty sure

there is a similar post on this topic a while back. I KNOW..SEARCH FUNCTION. Well I had mine replaced with the “stop telling me to search” function.

Calm down.

Texas

I searched for this one, but couldn’t find it anywhere. I’m moving out of the Chicago area for the first time in my life this weekend. If anybody knows a bar in Austin, TX that could serve as a home-away-from-home for Cubs fans, please let me know.

I know it’s a long shot, but I’d rather ask and be disappointed than not ask and watch every game at home on MLB.TV…

Austin

I spent 4 years in Austin and met a lot of Cubs fans – but no specific Cubs-centric bars. Unfortunately in Austin you’ll always be outnumbered by Astros fans, at least in the Downtown-University area.

Washington, DC

That surprises me a little bit. I went to a Cubs-Nats game there over July 4 and there were a lot of Cubs fans.

There really was no place in NYC until recently

The Riveria which is a Red Sox bar near me in the Village would let you have a small screen if you asked nice and I heard of a place on 10th in the 40s that will show them on request but the Yahoo Cubs meet up group has gotten Kelly’s Bar on Ave A & 12th to run
all the Cub games and it is a big improvement over the Standings bar we used to meet at.

while not really a cubs-centric bar

Barneys Beanery in Santa Monica was a gathering place for Cubs fans…...I think it’s because it was one of two host bars for the Iowa Hawkeyes “I-Clubs.” Thus it seemed to attract Hawkeyes even when they weren’t playing, which of course made it a natural hangout for displaced Cubs fans.

There is a Meetup group

for DC area Cubs fans. The organizer used to do have game watching meetups at different bars but I don’t think that many people were showing up and he hasn’t done anything in awhile. There is a Billy Goat Tavern in the Union Station area that could be a spot in the future.

I live in Arlington, VA and would love to have a bar full of Cubs fans to go to.
