Carlos Zambrano and Rich Harden. Now that's a pair of Aces.
"Best division in baseball?"
Ok, you can point to the NL Central overall W/L records, but do you really believe that the NL Central is the best division in MLB?
Do you believe that the NL Central is better than the AL East, West or even the Central?
Bear in mind that the NL Central, “the best division in MLB,” has a 42-51 record against the AL. And the Cards, Brewers and Cubs all have losing records to the AL. Only the Reds managed to walk away from interleague with a winning record.
NL Central best in the NL? Sure.
NL Central best in MLB? Hardly.
Marquis hasnt really pitched that bad for a 5th starter tonight
If our offense was in pre-july mode we’d have won both these games to start the series

Let's not panic
Even if we get our ass kicked tonight it might be a good experience for the team. Let’s face it – this is a good Cubs team but they simply have to start winning on the road. Humility is a good teacher – guys like Fukudome, Ramirez and Soto are gonna hit but they’d better start now. Time for some benchings to get some people’s attention and let’s drive on!
I'm not panicing....nor aam I jumping off a ledge....
But c’mon….......1,1,9,0,1 …..... doesn’t that bother you any?
The best defense is a good offense
Sadly this season is feeling a lot like the 07 brewers
Start out extremely hot with a nice sized division lead the pressure of being the “hunted” closes down on us and the hunters swoop right in and take the division lead and if im not mistaken this is around the time last year that we took over first place from the brewers

Consider This...
There is still an excellent chance that the Cubs make the postseason without winning the NL Central.

Ya but being a wild card means playing on the road
and we have seen how piss poor this team is away from wrigley

but winning the division means
we will probly play the Dbacks
the brewers are losing right now, too
shut up about the brewers – gosh its like either “gloom/doom” or “everythings roses” on here – wake up, guys this is baseball! its ALWAYS up and down
"I'll play any day. I don't care if I'm 0-for-30, playing baseball is my PASSION. I'll go out and play." - Geo Soto
What do you mean by the brewers are losing right now too?
They have yet to lose in the 2nd half and have sheets and sabathia goin the next 2 days, they have all the momentum in the world

You know the brewers won tonight, right?

This Cubs team is a World Series-capable team
Let’s root for ‘em and hope that our stars turn it around!
There have been a lot of UFO sightings over Arizona recently
and i think we are witnessing the results of an alien abduction of ARam, Dlee, and Soto. They drained the giddyap from their bodies and released them as weakened souls.

let them loose
if they have been abducted the surely will be set free at Wrigley

The Marlins are a good team with power
so our pitchers and hitters better bring their “A” games or it could get ugly.
not worried
about the pitchers at lease – where the hell is the hitting

I feel for the poor Cubs fans who paid to go sit in that monstrosity
and have to watch this mess and get jeered on there way out.
For some reason this game is a little easier to tolerate
than last night’s. Maybe because I thought we had a great shot to finally beat Randy Johnson and couldn’t get anything going.
Lou's gonna send a message
I bet tomorrow’s lineup looks like this:
Soriano
Theriot
Fukodome
Edmunds
Derosa
Ward
Fontenot
Blanco
Lily
Tinker to Evers to Chance.
My Advice For The Cubs Tomorrow
forget the long ball and just concentrate on making contact. Couldn’t be any worse than all these warning track outs.

Doug Davis is probably licking his chops right now

for once, the thread was way worse than the game.
i’m not coming back to the game threads for a while. way too much “we suck b/c of xyz” for me.

i'm outta here. need some sleep... tomorrow's a new day...
maybe we can win the last game of the series like we did with the last series…
GoCubsGo
DBacks
These guys are below .500 and they lead their division. They have a constant stream of young players coming up and producing. They beat the Cubs in Phoenix (andChicago) like they were a AAA team. Randy Frikkin Johnson at 45 years old beats them like they were school kids.
MAN, DO I HATE THE D-BACKS!!!
and their announcer, that squirt makes me puke. PUKE I TELL YA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t take it anymore.
too bad they didnt hit hudson in the head, I’m with ya CubFaninNY i loathe the D’Bags fake fans manufactured noise and mark grace has sold out

What is wrong with you?
To wish someone to be injured more than they already were speaks voumes about the kind of person you are.
Carlos Zambrano and Rich Harden. Now that's a pair of Aces.
Nice pitching change, Lou
I love the fact that you bring in Cotts when the game is 9-2…
That’ll stop the bleeding…
amazingly it did, too little too late however
Someday we'll go all the way.
