WOW

HR DARYLE WARD

I take back anything I said negative about him earlier today.

LOU, please let him start tomorrow.

by Matt Allison on Jul 22, 2008 11:09 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You need to read some stats.

DPLee hasn’t hit a homer in over a month, and is on the wrong side of 30. It isn’t a slump. His best days are behind him. Soto is exhausted and ARam is 0-PASB. They need to sit.

How someone can watch tonight’s game and not see the obvious is baffling.

Tinker to Evers to Chance.

I agree that Lee isn't getting any better.

But just because they slump doesn’t mean they aren’t good hitters.

Brenly

brings up a good point. Hopefully, bringing back soriano tomorrow would not be too much pressure on him. But, making as much money as he does we should expect him to play well..

I was thinking to myself a while ago,

If the Cubs can just get something going it would be a good boost to their confidence. Ward’s homer helps.
The guys look frustrated, you can see it in their faces and body language.

The good news is that you get to pitch now.

The bad news is that Lou has his worst possible defensive outfield behind you.

Someone put some "slump" in the Cubs drink!!!!

I just hope this isn’t some extended thing….Brewers are tearing it up suddenly and probably can’t wait to get us into Miller Park…..ill timed offensive slump…..it is painful to look at DLee and ARam right now….but perhaps a return to friendlier confines will awaken our sleeping bats…that and sweet swinging Alfy Sor…....gear it up against the Fish and then come into Miller with bats a blazing…...OR this becomes a cancer on the offense and we slowly slump our way into 2nd, which could still be good enough for the playoffs….remember the WC will likely come from the NL Central so don’t give up…..

You can't handle the truth, NOTBRUCE.....

You can’t accept the fact that the Cubs right now are NOT good. The proof is in their game. DLee is trying to pull everything. He will set a record for DP’s that was held by probably the slowest player to EVER play this game. I know you don’t know who it is, but a google search will tell you.

You called me a moron for responding to someone who said that DLee reached for another pitch. I said it was alright to reach for the pitch, just hit it, don’t try to pull it. That is baseball. You hit the pitch away to the OPPOSITE field. Otherwise you have a weak grounder to the pull side. DUH….

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Accidental beanballs happen. Professional ballplayers can tell the difference between unintentional and intentional HBP. That difference matters. What the fuck is the point of punishing someone for an accident?

I ask again...

What’s the point of punishing the other team for a clear accident? Usually a beanball is in retaliation for something dickish that the other team did… a batter showing up a pitcher, an intentional HBP, a player sliding in with his spikes high, etc.

Why throw at someone for an accident? Especially what you’re saying… that they’re going to try and injure someone… it’s nonsense. You’re an idiot.

In this case, I'd bet that's accurate.

You can see it in Lou’s body language – “this kid just doesn’t have it.” It looked just the same on the 12th when the Giants were slapping him around.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Hart gets a very down-to-earth, quiet assessment of his future with the team in a 1-to-1 meeting with Lou. They’ll send him to AAA, try to accommodate him with a trade… but I seriously doubt that Hart pitches another meaningful inning in 2008.
