Aug 10 WILL be a night game - also 8/4 game time changed

I don't believe this has been officially announced but I found it on ESPN listings

It is not yet listed at Cubs.com but I first noticed today on Yahoo which I certainly would not trust but it is now listed on ESPN.com

NOTE FROM AL:

Just got an email from the Cubs confirming that 8/10 vs. St. Louis WILL be the ESPN Sunday night game beginning at 7:05 CDT.

Also, Monday 8/4 vs. Houston has been picked up by ESPN -- game time changed to 6:05 pm CDT. I'll post this in the pregame thread for tonight, too.

Nice!

I too have tickets to this game and while I would still be able to make it whether it is day or night game I was wondering the same thing myself. Thanks for clearing this up. I pretty much figured ESPN would snag this one. Hopefully Erin Andrews comes along for the ride.

Also ESPN will broadcast Cubs/Brewers on 7/30

Dempster Vs Parra and they are not even making them move the time up. How sweet of them.

it was always listed as a TBA

and I think most people ASSUMED it would be a night game. I would have had to sell my tickets
IF IT HAD BEEN A DAY game but am all set now.

What's the point?

Seriously. That’s 15 games away. At the rate of posted fanpost’s around here, this will be off the main page in 45 minutes. Let’s discuss what the ACTUAL game times will be Monday or Tuesday. Speculating on the projected game times for a series weeks away seems very silly to me.

For people who have tickets to the game

It’s a big deal and they need to know in advance.

I agree about diary diarrhea around here, but I’d much rather a diary like this one than another “THE CUBS ARE DOOMED” one or “WE NEED TO TRADE FOR (Player X)” Those are the diaries that need to go.

I'm with Josh.

I have always posted these game time changes when they are announced. I make sure people know about them again later when the game date is closer.

To joeschmitt, discussing actual game times which haven’t been changed is silly, and I think you know that.

Um Al you posted on the Sunday night game thing A WEEK AGO

Since we now know the answer I thought it was well worth posting.
This was very important to my scheduling and I know a few of our friends to whom it was a big deal.
If you were coming in from out of town the sooner you know the better.

Yes, you do.

However… I didn’t post anything specific, just a general note.

Kinda starting to sense a theme in your posts today, Joe.

But what’s the point, anyway? This will be off the main page in 45 minutes.

I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling, so why don't we just ignore each other til we go away.

I work for ESPN.

So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies.

Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about.

But trust me…. You don’t.

I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you don’t know what you are talking about.

This is how bad info gets passed around.

If you dont know about the topic….Don’t make yourself sound like you do.

‘Cuz some BCBers belive anything they hear.

Huh ??????

I’ll bite. What WRONG info ?The game time has changed on one game and been made official on
another. It may seem boring to you but some of us really need to PLAN AHEAD. In this case I get to have my BBQ and ANOTHER friend gets to have his which was scheduled for the NIGHT of Aug 31 ( look almost SIX weeks away) which he now knows will be a DAY game. For people actually attending the games game time changes ( which ESPN is constantly making teams do so they can broadcast them at their convenience) matter a great deal.

On a related note did anyone notice the outrageous scheduling this past Sunday ? The Sunday
“night” game was two hours earlier than usual starting at 6 EST which had the added “benefit” of making sure ALL THE games starting at 4 ( such as Brewers /Giants) which are normally broadcast on E.I were NOT available. And what was the reason for this drastic time change ? Why so the ESPY awards which HAD BEEN HANDED OUT DAYS EARLIER could be broadcast at least 4 times in row. I am sure the Red Sox and Angels felt that having to play a game in the shadows was well worth showing awards for which the winners had already been announced and published.

I don’t know if you really work for ESPN but your arrogance would seem to indicate you do.

Why would this be a BAD post?

There are so many ‘The World Is Ending” and “The Sky Is Falling” posts lately, this is like a breath of fresh air, instead of the stale BS that’s been anguished over the past few weeks. At least this contains some pertinant information, and this is a good forum to state it in.

And, the “What might your position be” post is for the alleged employee of the Worldwide Leader….

Further TV game notes...

Because each team is limited to five Sunday night appearances per year, and 8/10 will be the Cubs’ fifth, the TBD games on 8/31 and 9/21 will both now be 1:20 starts and be on WGN.

Also, according to ESPN’s schedule for next week, the Wednesday, July 30 game at Milwaukee, currently on CSN Chicago, will also be on ESPN.
