PrintI'm getting ready to attend the season ticket holder luncheon with Crane Kenney at Wrigley. A couple days ago I upgraded to an IPhone 3G. I was surprised to see that I can interact with BCB pretty well.
My idea: I will "blog" to this thread in real-time describing the events/questions at the Cubs luncheon. This can also be a place for BCBers to make suggestions for the Cubs front office. In the invitation it says, "the intent of the session is to focus on our ballpark, business, community and off-the-field endeavors." So I won't be making any suggestions like, "bench Lee this week and play Hoffpaiur" or "Make a trade for TPWSNBN"

You can provide us updates with your own Twitter account. You can also download the free app – ‘Twitterific’ from the Apple App store (directly from your iphone) and can feed us tweets. With this you can send both text and pictures and it is much more convenient.

I think you should focus on the sale of the team and stadium renovations. For example, I’d ask, why would anyone want to buy the team but not the stadium?

...This is a small one but something that really bugs me at when at Wrigley. When you go to the washroom during a game, its totally hit or miss on whether Pat and Ron are on the speakers. As most know, the wait can be long and your totally in the dark on what is happening in the game. Sometimes the radio is on, sometimes it isn’t and sometimes the volume is so low you cant hear it. This seems to be the case no matter which washroom you go to as well, basically there isnt any consistency.
Perhaps this could be a tie in question in regards to the laughable quality of TV’s they have in the stadium. I would imagine there would be half a dozen LCD manufacturers that would outfit the entire place in flat screens in return for some advertising. I know that Sony has that arrangement at PetCo.

The public announcing system stinks. You can’t hear anything. I’m sure a big name speaker mfg (Bose, etc) would do the same as Sony at Petco, outfit the park with a great sound system in exchange for some advertising.

How do you stream? I have it on the ‘Live Camera’ tab but it’s not reloading. It’s just a still from when I zoomed in. When I click ‘Just watch’ It reloads but goes backwards in time (i.e. 25 seconds, 50 seconds, etc.)

OK, I'm back
My overall impressions:
There were 7 total front office people fielding the questions. They weren’t stuffy and didn’t seem to just be there to provide lip service. Very cool atmosphere including references to Jim Hendry and his “F Bombs” at the bar at the Cubs convention.
Most people stuck to stadium and community improvement questions and comments. There were a few “roll your eyes” questions like “My uncle got oil on his pants and the 90 year old usher wouldn’t do anything…” and “I’d like my season tickets in 4 different sections so I can get 4 perspectives, etc”
The ownership issue was addressed, as well as the triangle building (hopefully starting after 09 offseason). Problems with vendors and noise need to be taken up with the police or Alderman Tunney. New TVs in the UD are being researched, but weather is an issue with them. The way Kenney was talking I’d be surprised to see the L flag after this season.
Also some new ideas brought up more than once: Having a “VIP” card that you can swipe when you come into the game (not just for season ticket holders, anyone) where you can get discounts and be sent promotions (half off Six Flags on “Cubs day” etc.) Diamondbacks already have this in place. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it next year. Also season ticket holders getting a shot at a lottery for Hawks tickets, but guessing less than a 50% chance after NHL, Hawks season ticket holders, corporate gets their share.
Lots of straw polls, at least 5, asking about different features of the park…many don’t mind under armour signs, surprised how many in favor of replay screen in LF, shocked how many were in support of Mark Cuban.
All in all it was a pleasant day. Sorry for the broken english but I thought it might be cool to send realtime updates, etc. They gave us some cool schwag on the way out. Here is a pic:

Twitter will soon become a BCB sensation. With so many big games coming up vs MIL and STL. I went ahead and did some research and there is the Blackberry version of Twitterific however, it does not appear to support the ability to upload photos.

I still feel the season ticket holders should be more appreciated. They seem to be at other ball parks but the demand is so great that the Cbs are not forced to do much change.
