This is a little small, but it shows the outline of the hockey "rink" placed on the field at Wrigley Field yesterday. They may relocate it from there, but that gives you an idea of how big it is.

Wonder if they'll just have seating in the stands

or will it be right up against the boards on the field?

My guess is...

... in the stands only. That’s where the biggest damage to the field would come, from the platforms they’d have to put up for field seating.

Odd placement?

I thought they would put it a bit tighter to the stands? Seems like the view would be pretty bad with the rink in the middle.

Maybe I haven't been paying enough

attention, but can someone explain why there is a hockey rink on the field?

by adam316 on Jul 23, 2008 3:49 PM CDT   0 recs

It's not a hockey rink.

It’s a gladiatorial arena.

Okay

And what is the purpose? What is it for? Why do we want it at Wrigley? Or if it is easier, you could give me a link to wherever this information might be at.

Yeah that's a little bothersome

If you’re sitting in the lower deck, you dont stand a chance seeing anything. At Lambeau they put it on sheets of plywood to help protect the field a little bit. The boards are going to limit what you can see anyways. but wonder what shifting it over closer to the grandstand or rotating it 90 degrees would do in terms of sightlines.

So far the upperdeck and rooftops for sure and bleachers might be the best seats and should be the most expensive.

From the article

The event is expected to draw 42,000 fans to Wrigley, which had the outline of a hockey rink in the outfield, though that configuration could change. The NHL will determine the cost and handle the distribution of tickets. Bettman said those details should be worked out within several weeks.

“We’re going to spin [the rink] a lot, do it with some architects and engineers and check all of the sightlines,” Bettman said. “Of course, it can’t be perfect, because Wrigley wasn’t built with this in mind. [But] we’re going to try and make this the most fan-viewer-friendly for people sitting in their seats.”

Show Us Your BCB T-Shirt

I ran this idea by Al, and he liked it. I thought I'd be fun to get folks to upload pictures of them in their BCB t-shirt. It gives more exposure to Project 3000 and is also a fun way to share who we are.

Al noted "It would be especially cool if people who don't live in Chicago would take the photo at a recognizable location in wherever they live. If you do this, remind people that it's just for fun -- I know some are sensitive about privacy, but if anyone is willing to post a pic like this, it'd be great."

So let's see it, BCB pride!

(p.s. if you all like the idea, recommend this FanShot... it will keep the exposure up and give folks who want to participate time to upload there photo.)

(p.s.s. Order your BCB/Project 3000 t-shirt here)
