C.C. Game thread...

No-hitting the Scarlet Pigeons through 4.

I know we're supposed to be rooting for a split or something, but I'd just as soon see the Brewers pluck the Cardinals and send them to oblivion.

Let's see, 38 words to go. I really think the Cardinals will fall apart if given the right push, so let's see if we can get the Brewers to push for us. That way, we don't get those icky feathers on our hands.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

It worked.

Well, at least we ruined the no-hitter.

Ledge jumping

Looking at this thing realistically, I hate to say it, but I think that the Brewers have a much better offense than we do, equal starting pitching, equal bullpen, worse defense, and equal bench. With all of this said, if you look at the funk we are in, and look at the remaining schedule, the Brewers have a HUGE advantage. I beleive they will win the division. I am really fearful of them after thinking we had it made. I think Hendry will only make 1 more minor deal such as a right-handed bat off the bench. There will be no other help coming. Most of all, if we don’t have a 7 game lead headed into Sept., I think we are in deep trouble. I would like to know your thoughts and convince me that I am (hopefully) wrong! Thanks. I need a few drinks watching this game!

TOTALLY, agree

We are contrarians here, but add in that this team will be 10+ or more games below .500 by years end, and they’ll be “lucky” to back in as a Wild Card. I say lucky as they would be disadvantaged to play more on the road than at home!

Its a long season, but trends are trends, and I have no Blind Faith (great band) that they will reverse their god-awful trend.

Did I read right - at least 10 games under .500 by end of season?

Assuming my math is right, are you saying the Cubs’ record at the end of the year will be 76-86 or worse?

More math

He is saying the Cubs will go 17-44 the rest of the way.

He didn't mistype

But he’s officially someone I’m going out of my way to ignore all posts he makes.

Potential alternatives to following major league baseball:
  • Knitting
  • Stamp collecting
  • Comic books
  • The pan flute
  • Morrocan cuisine
  • Nature photography
  • Paint by numbers
  • Quilting
  • Competitive arm wrestling.

Just a few ideas you may want to consider.

The Paint By Numbers idea is good

Do they still run that paint instructor guy on PBS during the weekends? He has a nice soothing calming voice and paints lots of nice calm landscapes.

Yes, E-Man should look into that.

Perhaps his cable network offers an on-demand service, and he can watch about 10 of those in a row.

Speaking of CC

I just added a FanPost on him and Fielder. It’s just a link to a story in the Onion, but it’s pretty darn funny if I do say so myself…

Also speaking of CC

There are no periods in CC.

Yes, there are...

I am treating him the same way I treated Prince during that whole “symbol for androgny” phase.

There are periods. If you had a friend who all of a sudden wanted to be known as “Lord Frank the Spiffy,” would you call him that?

I certainly would...

...though I’d probably eventually shorten it to LFS (again, with no periods).
