Kerry Wood injury

Its now become a factor and i dont see Wood coming back anytime in the near future. But it might not be as bad to lose him as some people think for a short time period. If this really is just a blister problem and nothing that the organization is hiding then he will come back from this. So im hoping that Mr. Hendry goes out and picks up another reliever because in my eyes that would help alot. I dont care what people really think about Howry but in my eyes he is wearing out and not the same pitcher he once was. So if Hendry goes out and brings in a Huston Street or Brian Fuentes then that would be great. Just picture our bullpen when Woody does come back. You would have Wood closing with Marmol and Street/Fuentes in late inning situations and can take stress off of Howry. Not only would this be insurance for the Wood problem but also for Marmols struggles for the past 3 weeks. I do see Marmol getting back on track tho. I dont know what it would take to get a late inning guy of that caliber but it is just a thought.

I don't know....

Its going to cost a lot to get Street or Fuentes, I mean a lot with so many teams needing BP help. It’d be nice to get one of them and at what price? We do need solid players for the future as well. We also we should maybe get an close to official word on Woody before we rush into anything.

The "master" plan to backdate Wood

was crap. Rules say you can only be backdated for 10 days.

A freaking blister…

Give him a month off. The last thing you want is for him to overcompensate and tear every ligament in both arms.

Paragraph breaks are your friend.

That was very hard to read.

But, we will see what happens. Carlos Marmol can close. I’m not worried.

Agreed

While I hate to see Wood go down like this, there are a lot worse things that could happen.

Totally agree.

While Woody is out, I’d like to see the seventh, eight and ninth lining up something like this : Gaudin, Cotts, Marmol. Mix in Scott Eyre in as necessary against specific lefties or lefty-heavy lineups. I’m not exactly sure what to do with Howry at this point.

I agree Al.

I like the way the Cubs are handling it. I am sure Woody is ten times more upset about this than any of us.

And Eyre, Cotts and Gaudin have been good also

In my opinion you then have six members of your bullpen that you can trust.

Yep. As long as Lou uses all his options, we arn't in that bad of shape.

Cotts
Eyre (is he still on DL)
Marshall
Marmol
Gaudin

Wood (hurt)
Howry (Sucks)

In the Minors:
Ascanio

OT: Baseball alive at old Tiger Stadium site
I have to admit, i didn't expect this to work, and i generally don't condone ratting somebody out, but i think Woo Woo inspires special circumstances.

He was a few rows above me and a group of maybe a hundred other University of Iowa alumni last night, and started right in with the wooing early and loud. Between innings, he was... how shall i say this... creeping around? We all know his reputation.

Within 10 minutes of making a complaint to the Cubs text line, he was gone. Might be worth trying in future instances.

Sorry for the crappy picture quality... just got a new phone (HTC EVO) and am not sure how to take screen caps yet.
