Shark sighting in Wrigley?

Interesting ESPN.com article. most of it deals with the return of Soriano and Scott Eyre (whom i think is under-rated, in terms of what the current roster looks like). but at the end of it there's an interesting little blurb about the possible call up of Jeff Samardzija, probably as a power option from the pen. i must admit, i'm dying to see if this guy's worth all the hype and money.

there's also a bfew 'related links' on that page to check out, dealing with the 'final cut' of bidders from the Cubs. interesting development : Cuban still in, Canning appearently out.

anyways, it's all a brief and interesting read for Cubs fans... just please ignore the fact that they had to force a Red Sox reference into it, we all know about the bias.

Oh, THAT Shark...

...for a second, I thought Greg Norman might be throwing out the first pitch or singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

(Totally unrelated, but Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern’s football coach, is singing on Sunday….GO CATS! Honestly, if you’re looking for college football and you live in Chicago, Northwestern season tickets are a STEAL – $228 for the whole season per ticket, and you get to see Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan State, and Purdue all come to Ryan Field. Single game tickets are on sale, too….seriously, you’ll enjoy it. And NU needs fans!)

Theme music suggestion

He should clearly enter the game to the theme from Jaws.

And every time he Ks a batter, they play the clip “We’re gonnna need a bigger boat” over the PA.

Just a thought.

Would that mean...

...that if he gave up a run or something, they play the line from Back to the Future 2? “The shark still looks fake.”

Interesting.

Someone in management probably saw it and told him to take it down.

As a Notre Dame alum and fan....

I have to admit to being intrigued at the idea of the Shark on the mound at Wrigley pitching for the Cubs. I’m sure he’ll be excited, but it’s not like he hasn’t played in front of crowds before.

Even if you’re not a Notre Dame fan, you’ve got to be pulling for this guy.

IF IT TAKES FOREVER!!
