he's got to be up over 70.
We need him to get into the 7th. Then Gaudin, then Marmol.
’’If somebody had told me we were going to lose Soriano for eight weeks, lose [Carlos] Zambrano and Kerry Wood for a couple of weeks apiece, and then at the same time lose [Reed] Johnson, and then when we played the American League not have a DH [then-injured Daryle Ward], and be in first place by two games, I’d tell you we were pretty fortunate.’’ Lou Piniella (7/23/08)

He could, but he'd rather do it this way.
I can’t say enough good things about Harden right now. And he’s really a contrast with Z – no emotions, not really interested in what he’s doing at the plate… one isn’t necessarily better than the other, but they’re very different stylistically.
The other thing I keep noticing is how YOUNG Harden is. He could be a Cub for a long, long time.
He is young.
Like I’ve said from the get-go, we could end up pulling off the deal of the century, or the deal that “could of been”.
He’s one hell of a pitcher. I don’t have a problem with the strikeouts, but I the walks is what stopped him from getting into the 6th and 7th innings.
Personally, Harden is my favorite pitcher on the staff. No offense to Z, but I think Harden is just more exciting to watch. We are so fortunate to have 2 #1 pitchers.
My new life, my new world, and my beautiful daughter:
Tamia London Davis: Due date (8-11-08)!
From an A's fan perspective - It is cool to see people recognize that Harden's so young
No one in A’s-land EVER refers to Richie as young. But he IS!
When I looked up his age and saw that he’s 26, I was shocked. A’s fandom acts like he’s 31…
wow too much good stuff this early! Love Harden

Complain that Maddux is a Six inning pitcher again. K’s are fine are great but

a problem for a so called “ace”. Let’s be honest. The “ace” of the Cubs is DEMPSTER
followed by Z and then Harden.

That would be good
Made me nervous because earlier this year, we saw him pulled in about the 5th even though he was dealing and only up to about 85 pitches… they wouldn’t say why… then they pushed back his next start… and eventually scratched him from it. This felt like deja-vu. I hope the outcome isn’t the same. I REALLY didn’t like them leaving him in for 113 last time. Hopefully this is just an attempt to make up for it.
I would say to make sure he was ready for his start in Milwaukee

I think we may need to just be patient and let them work this out….can’t see any bats available out there that will help that much…...on another note….Directv satellite is supposed to be installing my new setup today, too late for me to watch WGN HD but I gotta say whoever they hire to do their installs is from hillbilly central….

Man, who's been better - Sabathia or Harden? Both trades look excellent...
...but it looks like the Brewers don’t give two shits about CC’s arm post-2008, whereas the Cubs are trying to set Harden up for the long-term, or a long run. Has there been a better starter the last two weeks than these two?

CC isn't a long-term player
for the Brewers, he’s a rental. We’ll have Harden for at least another year.

Which is one of the reasons I like the Harden trade a lot more than the Sabathia trade.
There’s more risk, but a lot more potential reward.
I also think Lou is using Harden better than Ned is using CC
Lou knows Harden’s value is partly to get to the post season but mostly for dominating during postseason. So he pulls him with a low pitch count.
Ned Yost is running CC out there for complete games just trying to get the Brewers to the postseason. CC is a horse, but I’d be nervous if I were a Brewers fan
"There are no curses here...Games are won and lost on the baseball field" - Lou Piniella
Yeah...
...I know CC is a rental, but he’s thrown what, three complete games already? Isn’t that a tad high if they are expecting to make a playoff run?

He puts little stress on his arm. Reminds me of Tom Seaver. He could CG the rest of the year.

Hello all
Just got off of work, and heard that Marshall was in the game for his 3rd inning…what happened with Harden? High pitch count?
"I sail now?" - Bob Wiley
yep
A good day for me is a cubs win and a sox loss.
Well, guess Marshall has still done a good job....its not like our offense can expect...
pitchers to only give up 1 run….I mean this is solidly again on this frustrating offense…...what is the solution?
-Wait till Soriano gets it back?
-Hope the slumps just end?
-Trade for a bat?
I don’t know what the solution is but I would wager a guess some of the starting pitchers are getting kinda tired of seeing their efforts wasted.
What the hell is wrong with all of you?

They are a very good team, let's not forget that.
"Chicago baseball fans, who are composites of scar tissue and mortifying memories..." - George F. Will
they stuck it to us in 2003...
and they denied the Indians in 1997 - and, they have like NO fan base. Total apathy in South Florida - WE are the most loyal deserving fans in the WORLD. They don’t give a &$&#*@—and they have 2 World Championships in 14 years. Then they sell the whole team and seem to make the most genius moves to IMMEDIATELY reload and contend again. They are like SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK WORLD SERIES SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK WORLD SERIES… it PISSES me off

Hanley was #1 in S.I.
and I think my top three would be:
1 – Hanley
2 – Pujols
3 – Wright/Santana

Or thanks offense for scoring 2 runs?
2 runs doesn’t win ballgames.
this Marlins bullpen has really shut us down.
we need to break through on these guys…and soon!

How about a walk-off run in the ninth?
I’ll take that.
