I dont think you have designate a certain guy to the job.
We do need a long reliver we can rely on, and Marshall could be it

I like the idea......
Though yesterday I said Marshall looked better starting…..He just needs to pitch…..he’s good
The best defense is a good offense
I think its a great idea
It has to be tough for the hitters to transition from Harden to Marshall

Except for coming inside on Hermedia...guy's killing inside fastballs right now
but yes, Sean did well otherwise and has been a heck on an asset to the team in any role they’ve asked him to be in. We’re in a tie game, yet again, because of the failings of the offense.

I get the feeling that opposing batters are told to look off close pitches from Marmol
since they move so much and wait for pitches right in the zone. They aren’t flailing like they were earlier in the season.
Marmol is scary.
He has such movement on every pitch. It could be in the guys ear or somewhere very far away. I wonder if he knows where its going to end up?
did you see the Shark pitch yesterday?
they showed a replay of a pitch that went from LA to Chicago on the movement.

Once you cross the bag/hit the bag...tie goes to runner...stay in foul terriroty and tag doesn't matter.
The best defense is a good offense
And not only that.....the 1st baseman
was stretched towards the SS as far he he could to catch the ball as early as possible…..
The best defense is a good offense
I HATE it when players slide into first...
...do you see runners diving to finish a 100m race? The only possible excuse is if and when the tag is coming in and a slide would avoid it.

Well we do know

What doesn't kill you makes you stranger -- The Joker
I personally think Lou was more out to argue the quick hook on Sinatro
and then got it himself just as quickly, and that’s what really pissed him off. Frankly, I don’t even think he argued the call at first base at all from what I could gather.
i'm with you there.. He tossed Matt FAST..
and that was the biggest issue. B/c after that we just started with the other umps.. Anyone else see the accidently chest bump as Lou was heading off the first time. Suspenions possible?
"Go Cubs Go"
and the way he tossed Matt
very arrogant.
’’If somebody had told me we were going to lose Soriano for eight weeks, lose [Carlos] Zambrano and Kerry Wood for a couple of weeks apiece, and then at the same time lose [Reed] Johnson, and then when we played the American League not have a DH [then-injured Daryle Ward], and be in first place by two games, I’d tell you we were pretty fortunate.’’ Lou Piniella (7/23/08)

You're wrong.
It’s UND.
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
Well...I think I have a much, much stronger case:
1 – Official website doesn’t have “u” in it:
2 – Or, try typing “ND” vs “UND” into Google – Notre Dame vs University of North Dakota.
3 – I think most all higher education institutions have “college” or “university” in its prefix or suffix.
4 – ![]()
I fail to see the “u” in this official logo.

What I think you’re failing to realize is that EVERY accredited university will formally have “college” or “university” to it’s name.
It’s University of Notre Dame, not just Notre Dame. This isn’t a hard concept to grasp.

My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.
Just got home, and this is my reward?

Crap.....really thought DLee or ARam would get something started.......
the team (when losing like this) just looks unenthusiastic and bland…...I know they care but when your team is slumping they look worse than they are….I am just worried this slump will metastasize into something bad
they were both trying
to pull the ball. Meh.

Hard to walk off if the ball doesn't leave the infield
is it possible for an entire lineup to slump like this?
So does Hendry trade for a BP guy now?
We need some help pronto.

the bullpen isn't the problem today

I see Lou and Sinatro got tossed...
Any chance that Lou would get suspended? (Did he bump an ump?) Remembering last year, I’d like for Trammell to manage for a game or two—maybe it would change the mojo.

No he just had some
choice words for the umps.
Carlos Zambrano and Rich Harden. Now that's a pair of Aces.

Hendry says he is sticking with what we have now.....which on paper should be enough....
But, that all depends on if some of these hitters pull their heads outta their butts….... REEEEEED J does it again!!!!!
which i totally disagree with
is jim blind or something? He doesn’t notice Bobby Howry’s struggles

THe Cubs have the players.
There’s no guarantee that anyone they traded for wouldn’t be in a slump either.
Very true.

We need to be really patient with Kevin Gregg
The one person who loves beating Kevin Gregg is Kevin Gregg. He becomes wild and stupid very easily. We need to take a lot of pitches, foul some off. Just frustrate the crap out of him.
where you gonna
slot him? Who comes out of the lineup?

If It's A Trade
then you include one of the current excess infielders. Or if you sign a Kenny Lofton then you DFA someone like Howry.
Eat More Katsui
excess infielders
indicates not a starting infielder. So again, who comes out of the lineup?
