Hey
Can somebody call that Square-D guy from the radio broadcasts? I think they’re partyl responsible for the “power at Wrigley Field” or lack there of…
Is there anybody else out there that wants to see
Samardzija come in to pinch run, if a former standout wide receiver can’t steal a bag we have problems

I wouldn't mind seeing it...
But the Shark is way too valuable as a pitcher to even think about using him as a pinch runner..

Not a good idea to burn a relief pitcher on the bases...
We might need him to, you know, pitch.
Besides, he may not have much experience on the bases. Most minor leagues use the DH.

If Dwaryle pinch hits we can then bring in the Shark
to pinch run for Dwaryle and leave the Shark in as the pitcher

Buck Showalter actually tried that one time.
He put Ron Mahay in as a PR (and he was a converted OF), he pulled a muscle on the bases (he had warmed up his arm, not his legs), and Buck had to burn an extra pitcher. Those are the kind of things that give managers nightmares.

I can't be here all of the time. But I am here for both....
Usually I am silent. BUT I can sit here in St. Louis and be happy as a clam in my house and celebrate with my wife when times are good. However, when things start getting ugly, I need friends and people with the same goals as me to discuss my frustrations. I don’t have anyone here that is a cub fan that can help listen/suggest/discuss frustration. Cardinal fans just laugh and jeer.
"I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah." - Abe Simpson
there's a reason why marriage vows
are “for better and for worse”. People who come out of the woodwork to complain when we’re worse aren’t there to celebrate with us when we’re better. They don’t have a real relationship with the board. And it feels like all they want to do is focus on the bad.

I understand this...and don't worry...I see the same on the other side...
People who run when the going gets bad. Still, alot of the screaming for people getting banned/flagged etc…are the same people who want the governmentFCC to raise their kids rather than monitor what their kids are watching on tv.
Don’t like it? As long as it isn’t profane or slanderous for you, let it GO.
"I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah." - Abe Simpson
Because ledge-jumpers deserve it
They lack perspective and an ability to think rationally about what the hell is going on. Granted, that’s a generalization, but …
I don’t have a problem with people stating the truth. I have a big problem with people saying “Well, we’re doomed, we’ll be eight games out in a week,’’ etc.
by Not Bruce Froemming on Jul 27, 2008 2:50 PM CDT up reply actions
I have a big problem with people jumping on with replies just antagonizing them
both negative and positive. Live and let live. Someone is frustrated….fine…let them be frustrated. And the people on here that share that sentiment….let them come together and vent with each other. Ignore their posts. When things go great….great….cheer and laugh and enjoy together. It is when someone jumps a positive person with a “don’t worry they will choke” or when someone jumps a negative comment with “hey you loser ledgejumper morons, why don’t you all leave because you aren’t fans anyway” stuff.
Just stop piling on by antagonizing each other, and lets enjoy discussing the game with people who all have the same hopes/dreams/goals. Winning it all….finally!!!

Ronnie is happier
Ronnie almost jumped out of the booth when Soriano went deep.
Ronny makes me laugh when things are going bad,
and I know I’m not alone in my misery.
Can’t wait to hear his reaction when the Cubs win the World Series!

Not a bad idea though…he has good opposite field power.

Does Lou have a shorter leash on Marquis
now that we are back in the game….
"Aw, how could he (Jorge Orta) lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico." -- Harry Carey
Ah well....new game.....come on Marquis....the gods of momentum would like you...
to settle down and get a nice 1-2-3 inning here…....that’s all they ask…..DO IT!
lol

I'm baaaaack!
We may look back at this day as the turning point in this, the 2008 baseball season. When all looked bleak, when the Cubbies were down 5 and the Brewskis up 3 we thought it was the beginning of the end. But the Cubbies roared back and the Brewskis tanked.
Wait, Rickie Weeks committed an error?
How unusual! Why is he still in their lineup now that they have Durham.
"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007
Durham's not much better defensively.

Long man
Will Jeff S be the long man today? We need innings from Marquis or somebody.
Marquis has to shut them down this inning, keep momentum on our side

Marquis Gives It Back

unbelievable.
HR Uggla. Thanks so much, Jason Marquis.
’’If somebody had told me we were going to lose Soriano for eight weeks, lose [Carlos] Zambrano and Kerry Wood for a couple of weeks apiece, and then at the same time lose [Reed] Johnson, and then when we played the American League not have a DH [then-injured Daryle Ward], and be in first place by two games, I’d tell you we were pretty fortunate.’’ Lou Piniella (7/23/08)

Jerk! I despise him….what a headcase….what a momentum killer!!!

Sh*t
When does he get pulled from the rotation?
Way to shut down the Cubs momentum!!!
Marquis has been overdue for a performance like this for a while
He has pitched over his head for the past month and a half and has actually been doin a decent job except for today
"This is why Major League Baseball does not need instant replay, because then every single play will then be reviewed." -- Joe Morgan, 5/18/08, referring to an umpire ruling a Carlos Delgado homerun foul when replays showed it hit the foul pole.
He has had tons of rest
between most of his starts. This is the first time he’s pitched on normal pitcher’s rest (5 days) in over a month.

Sinker doesnt work so well
When it is up in the zone. Or when you cant throw the setup pitches for strikes.
I think Lou is just wanting the innings from Marquis.
He is relying on our offense to put some numbers up. Cant say I disagree.
Oh well....enjoyed about 5 whole minutes of this game so far........
we just cannot beat the Marlins…....but it would be nice to keep it at a 1 run defecit…..if that is even possible with Marquis…..
I really think we will be able to score against Hendrickson.

that players, when they stink, would take themselves out of games instead of allowing themselves to keep screwing things up.
