Standing Room Available for Brewers Series
If anybody is interested in going up to Milwaukee...
...standing room tickets are available for all four games on the Brewers website for $22 each. Looks like they have singles available around the park as well. This is a huge series as we all know and it would be great to pack Miller Park full of Cubs fans. Big win today, let's keep the momentum going! The pitching match-ups are pretty amazing. Hope we take at least 3 of 4!

Thanks for the info
I would’ve thought there was no way to get tickets-I’m definitely going to give it a shot.

The NYT comments on this series...
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/27/sports/baseball/27bats.html?_r=1&ref=todayspaper&oref=slogin
In the article, Brewers fan Michael Kiefer, of Naperville says—
“I’m just hoping that at least 70% of the fans at Miller Park are Brewers fans. It’s been closer to 50-50 over the years.”
What this lamebrain Brewers fan doesn’t seem to realize is that Cubs fans - for years - (tickets are always priced higher for Cubs games) have been lining the team’s pockets with money, one of the reasons that they’ve had SOME cash over the years. When the Brewers were awful, Cubs games would be the only sell-outs (or near sell-outs) at Miller Park or County Stadium.
The Brewers ought to place their own “Welcome To Wisconsin! Leave Your Money! ” welcoming signs at the north end of the Tri-State Tollway.

Welcome To Wisconsin! Leave Your Money!
...CLASSIC. Much the same here in Florida when I’ve been to Marlins games, and the Cubs series in Tampa was if not the highest , one of the highest 3 game weekday attendance numbers in the history of the Rays franchise.

In 2004...
... when demand for Cub tickets was extremely high and the Brewers were bad (94 losses both in 2003 and 2004), the Cubs played 10 games at Miller Park. Brewers attendance in 2004 was 2,062,382, 25,462 per game.
All 10 of the Cub games sold out (scheduling was almost as stupid as this year; there were two series in July and one in August); total attendance for those 10 games was 421,759, or 42,176 per game. The 71 other Brewer home games thus averaged 23,108. If you assume they would have continued that average for the 10 other dates if they hadn’t been Cub games, that means the Cubs put 190,685 extra bodies in the seats at Miller Park in 2004. Assuming the average ticket at Miller Park in 2004 cost about $20 - not an unreasonable assumption - that means Cub fans put $3,813,700 extra in the Brewer management coffers that year. Based on this 2004 Brewer salary list, that means Cub fans paid for the ten lowest-paid Brewers on their roster. Or Craig Counsell, take your pick.
They should be thanking us for keeping the economy afloat up there.

it'll take me awhile to find the link
but i remember reading an article from a few years back where they talked about how the brewers were marketing to cubs fan in northern lake county and southern WI. At that point they were just trying to get people in the park.

here it is
Brewers to market Miller Park as ‘Wrigley Field North’
I guess you do what you gotta do to keep bringing in money.

I remember that too.
As I noted above, that marketing campaign worked wonders, at least in 2004.

Yeah, and when their fans erupted over that
there was/is the “take back Miller Park” campaign that started a couple seasons ago.

I was at the game in 2003
where there were in excess of 46k there. Looked like people were hanging from the rafters.
It’s funny that with all that money we talk about the Cubs fans spending on tickets at Miller Park, it’s a drop in a bucket compared to the money us FIB’ers spend up there in the land of cheese, sausage and beer year-round. It’s no stretch of the imagination the extra $4M being spent.
Funny how winning changes things for most teams. Brewers avg attendance is up more than 10k from that 2004 number and think last nights game was their 8th straight sellout.

I live in Madison
Heading to Milwaukee for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Perfect view from straight behind home plate in the 4th tier for 5 dollars a ticket. I guess it pays to have a brother that is a brewer fan and has season tickets. I buy a small share of 8 tickets for 40 dollars and during the draft I got 3 of these Cubs games and some Rockies/Brewers game that I sold the 2 tickets for 40 dollars (face on the ticket). It’s a pretty good deal but I will be there cheering for the Cubbies!

Will be there Thursday
with a group of a couple dozen tailgating, then sitting somewhere in the 400-level. Couldn’t get the sect 234-237 LF bleacher seats this year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see any of the games draw in excess of 45k. The place seats 41,900 and I’ve been to Cubs games there, albiet on the weekend, that drew well over 3,000 SRO.

Unfortunately & ironically
This series comes the week in which I am moving to Milwaukee and I likely won’t have the time to get to a game. If I can it will be tomorrow, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed but it’s likely I’ll just be in a UHAUL cursing the traffic on 94.

A former WI resident (refugee from the megalopolis of Chicagoland) some thoughts
Miller Park was built under a cloud of political corruption where I was one of those who raised the RECALL effort on the State Senator who put Racine CO in the tax base for the stadium.
Going the games there often I was embarrassed by Cub fans who were DRUNK, OBNOXIOUS and DISRESPECTFUL…..we compared it to what sometimes is the case going to Wrigley at night games. That said I have seen some great games there going to ‘05 when we moved. The Rockies experience is nothing compared to a Cubs game even in Milwaukee.
Can anyone remember….Brandt Brown….and Ron Santo’s call of desperation…..Sept 23rd 1998 (almost ten years ago!) and the Cubs held a 7-0 lead over Milwaukee entering the seventh inning—I was there with my father…..Cubs were hanging on for the WC….
Trachsel was pitching a good game but was removed by a nervous Cub brass where then the bullpen quickly fell apart with a series hits, walks and even hit batsmen!
Going into the bottom of the 9th now was 7-5. Beck filled the bases….a 2-2 count….and you can here it here NorthtoNorth
OH NO!

Glad I Got September Tickets
I already got my tickets for the Cubs-Brewers games September 16-18 and for the Cubs-Cardinals game September 19 at Wrigley. I don’t want to know how much tickets for those games are fetching on StubHub.
