Wood isn't close to return from blister

from ESPN(in a new window)

Piniella said he hoped that the righty might pitch in a simulated game as early as Wednesday, making his return from the DL unlikely during Chicago’s four-game set in Milwaukee….

...”The healing will be there when he’s ready to pitch,” Piniella said of a potential timetable for Wood’s return. “It looks better, but he’s obviously not feeling well enough to pitch.”

Honestly, I’m not too upset about this. I think us fans need to remember how plagued Wood has been with injuries. If he needs to rest a little bit because of a blister - and in doing so, rest his shoulder - then I’m all for it.

But Macs...

...are the fastest growing computer brand: they are officially #1 in post-secondary education for students, get WAY less viruses, come with software that you (1) actually need and (2) actually use, and can just as easily run Vista as OS X. And price isn’t nearly an issue as it used to be. And the rumor is a “new” Apple product is on the horizon…and it will lower the prices of all Apple laptops.

It really depends on what you're doing...and what you want out of the brand name.

I run Vista NATIVELY inside of OS X, specifically so I can run a statistical program, and can easily drag-n-drop files between one operating system and another. Everything on Macs works…not ifs, ands, or buts about it. My battery consumption is vastly superior to other Windows machines, my system powers up and down faster than others, and anything a Windows computer can do, I can do.

That was my "Macs are great" portion

I’m in a bioinformatics laboratory, and it’s so much easier to run programs I want on a Mac than a Windows; Leopard makes things soo easy. Jeeze, i couldn’t even run a program in Windows that I solved in about half an hour with Leopard; it’s so user-friendly it’s almost a joke. But if you’re actually smart with installing anti-virus programs, and not doing any programming, and tight on money, Windows could be the better choice.

I bought a refurbed MacBook Pro...

...and this website really helped me out:

http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

What I did was this: I waited until right after newer MBP models were released, and there was an influx of refurbed “older” models. Prices went down immediately (because the newer models were out), and I basically got a steal of a deal on a the older model – but it was only older because the newest model had just come out. I love it.

...same warranty as the original laptops, Apple has for YEARS been #1 in service, and each laptop is certified with a specific number that can be referenced back if something goes wrong. Good night Irene

Cub offense let Sabathia off the hook when we could have run him out and the Brewers offense smelled blood and did what good teams do – pounced. They deserve the “W” here and it has all the makings of a Cubs offense that has now been deflated and will kindly roll over for the final 3 innings. Too bad though, Cubs hit the ball really hard and deserved a better offensive fate.

We can try again for tomorrow night.

but we got the double steal!

’’If somebody had told me we were going to lose Soriano for eight weeks, lose [Carlos] Zambrano and Kerry Wood for a couple of weeks apiece, and then at the same time lose [Reed] Johnson, and then when we played the American League not have a DH [then-injured Daryle Ward], and be in first place by two games, I’d tell you we were pretty fortunate.’’ Lou Piniella (7/23/08)
