Clemens DNA test: Positive

"Tests of syringes and other steroid paraphernalia that trainer Brian McNamee submitted to federal agents will test positive for Roger Clemens' DNA, according to a brief filed in court by McNamee's lawyers."

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3472451

So, it sounds like Clemens is a big fat liar, surprise, surprise!  I never really liked this guy and I am not afraid to admit that I am watching with glee as this guys career and legacy come crumbling apart.  I read somewhere that he's had to sell his Bentley to help pay for lawyer fees.

He has been willing to throw his wife, teammates, friends, basically anyone, under the bus in an attempt to save face but you can't argue with the results (though I'm sure his lawyers will firgure something out).

Even until last December, Clemens was a lock for being a first ballot Hall of Famer, now he may not even get in.  Besides maybe Palmero, no player has fallen farther, faster, in my opinion.

The question, is Roger Clemens no longer a Hall of Famer?

What's the opposite of shocking?

Oh, yes, this.

I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling, so why don't we just ignore each other til we go away.

Why?

Did you even read the story?

Patience, it's a virtue.

Sorry, I don’t spend all my night online responding to various blog posts. You’ll have to excuse my rude behavior of not getting back to you in a timely fashion. Next time, I’ll be sure to hang around for the two hours that you apparently did.

As for your question of why? It’s pretty straightforward. The diary topic made me think that he tested positive. In reality, this is just something that McNamee’s team is saying is going to happen. It’s the same thing as me posting a diary titled “Sammy Sosa: Guilty of using roids” and then have the content say “this person says that Sammy used roids.”

It’s not a huge deal, just something I wanted to point out.

I initially thought

that it was about a paternity test.

Well the title says "Clemens DNA test: Positive", yet the opening sentence is a quote that contains the words "will test positive"

Simple grammar should tell you there is a difference in tense here. The title implies that “positive” has definitely happened, while the quote suggests that said event is still in the future.

So the poster is reporting something as fact that actually has not happened yet. In the course of everyday conversation between you, me, and 90% of the populace, this is an incongruity at best. But if you’re a stickler for details and/or a libel lawyer, it could be construed as very misleading. Fortunes have fallen on far less.

i guess

100000 stories on espn, newspapers, internet etc etc doesnt inform us of every single time clemens scratches, lies, etc. —-guess we need 9000 diaries on this type of stuff on our good chicago cubs blog in the middle of a great season in which were #1. i get enough yankees, redsox, steroids everywhere else and i’m sure i’m not alone in saying this-take it somewhere else please-i’m begging you. this moves good discussions, post down. the majority of us come here to talk cubs.

God knows we need another C.C. diary

This isn’t a story about Red Sox, Yankees, or even future Hall of Famers (which is a diary you posted about) but oh wait, it is a diary about future Hall of Famers. Which is surprising you don’t like the Sox or the Yanks, considering you like the f’ing Cowboys. American team? Sort of like the Yankees huh?

There hasn’t been 9000 diaries about this, this was a story about one of the most prolific pitchers of our time and his fall. Go to a damn Cowboys site you hypocrite.

this is a baseball topic. I don’t see anything wrong with it.

No problem with this

Hey, If you don’t like the diary, don’t comment.
What a tragic fall. And Clemens will fight for his life till he has a dollar left.

I don't have any problem with this post.

It’s baseball-related. We have discussed Clemens before and this is a major topic, with this news coming out. The poster posted a link to the story.

It’s all fine. Everyone who found a problem with this can simply not read it.

Ironically

there is an ad to the right for a story about Clemens and Mindy Mcready. The SBN ads sometimes seem to know what we are talking about?

That's not irony

it’s context-sensitive advertising.

From ESPN

Roger Clemens just sold his Bentley, reportedly to pay legal bills.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3469271&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab3pos1

It is on a story of who player go broke, how can you go broke if you make 100 million in a 10 year span, I dont understand it.

Who am I to judge myself.

"Roger Clemens, the Pete Rose of Pitchers"

Boy, talk about a colossal fall from grace. Clemens ranks right up there with the all-time scumbags of professional sports….Pete Rose, Mike Tyson, Barry Bonds.

Pitching is KING. We don't add a frontline starting pitcher and a quality bullpen arm then this season will have yet another sad conclusion.
