Which is more Annoying?

"Manny Being Manny", and the obsessive coverage the EaStern sPorts Network gives it

...Or...

The Days of Brett Favre?

Personally, I can't stand either one. I don't hate the Red Sox, but the Yanks-Sox back and forth in the media is so annoying. "Manny Being Manny" makes it worse so.

Meanwhile, I can't decide who is more of a child in the Favre drama: Favre or the Packers.

Three more words.

It probably should have been labeled "OT".

In any case, can I vote “both”?

What was the point of this post?

I’m getting real tired of seeing comments made for no purpose other than to attack others.

The point ...

Was to mock the idea that a diary is “unworthy” to others when the solution is not to click on the them and to move on to the other diaries.

I've enjoyed the thread.

If I see a thread whose title doesn’t interest me or isn’t what I thought it would be after clicking on it, I don’t waste time. I click the little left arrow that means back and move on with my life.

And I certainly don’t waste my time saying, “Unworthy diary! Unworthy diary!”

Pluto will always be a planet to me!

by DaBard on Jul 31, 2008 9:50 AM CDT up reply actions

That might work if the title made sense

If it said “OT: Sick of Manny and Favre?” then Josh might not have bothered to click.

Most of the problem with “diary-ah” on this forum is people not giving them an appropriate title.

Then click the back button...

I really don’t get the kerfluffle over fanposts.

Don’t like the title? Don’t click.

Feel misled about the content? Click “Back” and don’t respond.

Diary you enjoy shoved down because of other fanposts? More clicks, but you can find it. Or, search by your name to get there quicker.

I really just don’t understand why it’s such a trauma.

This year it doesn't bother me with Manny

Only because in years past I had wished if he were traded he would come to the Cubs. Now that we got an outfield that doesn’t need Manny I don’t focus on this rumor. If he goes to Marlins then I guess we should be lucky he wasn’t there a week ago. His bat might have helped the team win 3 of 4 or even sweep us!

Brett Favre

simply because they actually made a Favre section on the ESPN ticker and they literally got 10 different analysts to seperately report on every statement each party made and every single analyst would say the exact same thing. Manny is kinda annoying because the media completely blows it out of proportion, but Favre is the ultimate.

Favre

Manny in his oddball way speaks the truth about the situation in Boston. Here he is a Hall of Fame player who has played huge role in the Red Sox winning 2 World Series titles and that organization calls him out? Theo Epstein and company are being awfully arrogant if you ask me.

No longer feeding the instigators and the clueless in fervent hope that BCB is salvageable.

The Favre story is more annoying

Because at least it is baseball season where they have a reason to talk Manny.

Better not

Better not tell the media that Brett Favre was at a Red Sox game one time. We’ll see 1000000000 replays of him being there watching Manny bat and endless discussion of how this might have impacted Brett’s unretirability or Manny’s trade demands.

Being a fan of a different NFC Central (er..North) team beside the team in

Wisconsin, I was glad to see he retired and hope he stays that way. My team sucks bad enough without having to face him twice a year. As for Manny (and Favre), it’s all on ESPN. You don’t see crap for coverage on any other station during their sports broadcasts. It’s all ESPN and their overplaying, overemphasizing, sensationalization of everything. It’s sometimes hard to watch Sportscenter anymore. All you hear is Red Sox this and yankees that. They pound certain stories to death and don’t cover stuff that most people want to hear. The really need to review their programming and realize that they’re an international station, not an East Coast station and provide equal coverage to all.

In another note, it was nice to NOT listen to Joe Morgan last night. Sutcliffe is looking good, hope he’s doing better and Erin Andrews was looking mighty nice, as usual.

As far as the diary is concerned, Favre coverage is getting out of control and so is Manny coverage… and the sad thing is I would love if Favre magically found himself touching the ass of Kreutz on opening day, and I would love if Manny came to the Cubs and pushed Sori to right and Fukudome to center (he can learn to adjust) ... but the fact of the matter is…. Neither is going to happen! DOH!

I'm Happy

With our current LF – a clubhouse guy who ignites his fellow teammates. Would not mind the 120+ RBIs from Manny, but…I don’t like his me first attitude which is not helping the situation in Boston. And while Sori is not a huge leap from Manny in the defense dept, at least he would like to play every day (even amid injury). And when he has a mishap he doesn’t laugh about it. I’m not one of those guys that thinks every stud ballplayer that becomes available is a good fit for the Cubs.

Brett Favre has screwed himself over it appears

It is my opinion that Green Bay has no desire to trade Brett Favre for anything short of a first round pick. With no other team apparently willing to meet that asking price the Packers seem hellbent on forcing Favre’s hand. Does Favre really want to show up to Packers training camp and be the villian? And hold the clipboard for Aaron Rodgers and see his consecutive game streak come to an end while he is healthy on the sideline? I don’t think so. I think he’s going to back down in the end and retire for good.

by MDBNIU on Jul 31, 2008 12:28 PM CDT reply actions

No way he stays retired

...I, as much as anyone am sick of both of these overblown stories, but I don’t think there is anyway Favre stays retired. It appears the Pack tried to bribe him to stay away and afterward his agent said there is a good chance you’ll see Brett in Green Bay on Friday. My guess is they settle and he ends up with Tampa…Jeff Garcia injured his leg today….

Favre...

is easily the most annoying. The breaking news now is that he’s chartered a private jet to Green Bay to MAYBE take off tonight. Unreal.

What bugs me the most about it is that the media is still so in LOVE with him that they refuse to point any blame on him for this situation. As I see it, here’s a quick recap:

1) Why is it such a big deal for him to come back? Because the Packers have decided to go with Aaron Rodgers, a guy they drafted 4 years ago BECAUSE Brett was waffling on coming back. He has been paid millions to hold a clipboard and his contract is up at the end of the season. They have to see what he’s got or they essentially wasted a pick that is worse than drafting a bust. At least with a draft bust you’ve given him a shot.

2) Before last season, Brett’s numbers were trending down for three consecutive years. I’m more likely to believe the three bad years are the trend and the one good year the fluke rather than the other way around.

3) Most everyone claims the Packers made it to the NFC Championship with Favre last year and he’s their best shot. Does everyone conveniently forget that he’s also the reason the lost that game? Or do his INTs not count if they’re not mentioned?

4) He says he felt pressured to make a decision in March. Well, duh, the team needs to decide if they need to draft another QB or should get you help. Heck, maybe if he hadn’t waffled so much in the past they could’ve drafted him help instead of drafting Rodgers and the two guys they got this year.

5) I don’t remember the Packers ever saying he’s coming back ONLY as a backup. They simply said he wouldn’t be the starter. Is his ego so big that he couldn’t come back and “challenge” for the job? Would that have even been an unbiased competition? Was he afraid to be beat out by Rodgers and then have no options left?

6) The analyst seem to be giving the Packers grief by saying “Apparently he’s not good enough to be your QB but you won’t just release him to join another team so he must have something left. Make a decision already.” In reality, they have. The Packers would be stupid to just give away any asset that they have. That he decided to un-retire could work out for them in the long run. Trade him for picks, they’ve earned the right to decide where he goes because, well…that’s the system, they’ve signed him to a deal and paid him millions. That’s how trades work. The teams decide who to trade for what. It would probably help speed the process along if Favre actually talked to the teams interested and said he’d play for them. As it is, nobody knows if he wants to play for them (except maybe the Vikings) and so they aren’t willing to give up much for him and the Packers aren’t just going to give him away.

Finally, as a Bears fan, my ideal situation would’ve been for Favre to whine his way back and to have Aaron Rodgers ride the bench or ask for a trade. Favre tanks the season and Rodgers either through trade this year or by FA next year goes to a team and become an All-Pro. Then what would all those “Oh Brett, Never Leave Us” fans think?
