2009 FA Pitchers
Do the Cubs need a starter? or reliever? Here's the reason Hendry may be having trouble: the pickings of pitchers who will be FAs at the end of this season is mighty slim (or unrealistic). Not that he can't target others (I'd love Guthrie from BAL), but these are the guys most likely on the market.

pitching
hell yeah we need pitching and now.looks like gallagher and marshall cant get it done.rich hill is out of it and the other starters are too inconsistent.this team will really have to step it up to keep the cards to keep from winning it. 101 years anybody??let,s hope not.

I think the Cubs gave up on Gallagher alittle to quick.
Although, we are in a pennant race and we don’t have time to “train” pitchers. Gallagher is still going to be a good one. I’m not off his bandwagon yet.

I don't think the Cubs "gave up" on Gallagher.
He’s still on the team (for now, unless he’s traded, and I hope he isn’t, unless he brings Sabathia). I suspect he’ll get more starts.

its not the cards
we need to worry about—-its the brewers
Dear SBnation, We need our own server here at BCB seeing how its became very slow due to enormous amounts of traffic. P.S. Impeach Bud Selig!!!

Boy that starting pitchers list is pretty blah
There are a few pretty good ones in there but for the most part it’s not too eye-popping. Maybe three years ago that list gets my attention a bit more. I don’t envy Jim Hendry right about now.

Some of those
are not going to happen. For example, there is no way the Angels don’t pick up John Lackey’s $9 million option. Otherwise, he’d be the equal to CC on the free agent market.

Lackey
how old is he? And I would love to see the cubs sign Lowe I think he’d be good with his sinker at Wrigley.

The Angels
will never let him go and they’ve got an option on him for next year anyway.
Lackey is 29.

Jeez with guys like Morris and Traschel
Who are not even PITCHING anymore , you think you might
have mentioned Maddux. I would not assume he is retiring.
Not suggesting the Cubs should sign him but for the sake of accuracy
you might mention him.
Also you had better put Dempster in there as he is an FA next year.

I have a feeling Dempster will get a Hendry special
and get resigned, but he probably won’t live up to the contract he’ll be given.

Wait a minute.
LaTroy Hawkins has a job?
Before each game, please remember to feed the bats.

Amazing, isn't it?
No wonder the Yankees are in so much trouble. They take a dominant setup man (Chamberlain) and put him in their rotation, where he’s been decent but not great. Now they have Kyle Farnsworth and Hawkins as their setup men.

Would love to have Juan Cruz back... in our pen
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

what about jon garland?
I think he would be decent in Wrigley Field. He was originally a Cub until he got traded to the Whitesox. However, his WHIP really scares me (1.44), but I guess the Angels defense is really getting the job done. I would rather hope for our young guns to arise and take over the 2-3 spot roles.
Well, we shall see…that’s the future, but I focus on the now.

maybe
We can sign Juan Pierre and trade him to Florida for Pinto and Nolasco.
