Ward was out, and you knew he was going to be out.
Still, worthwhile risk with a 4-run lead.

we know Ward is S-L-O-W…. small thing but why the heck not be aggressive and stick ONEDEC or even Marquis in there as a Pinch Runner—let’s hope that won’t matter (just saw error) but why not press the situation????

that’s what makes him a decent first baseman. Ball up 10 feet? It’ll be pulled back down, trust me.

Yet we know the Cards fans will rail on
about how their team is so “fundamentally sound” and thus more worthy than the Cubs.
But thanks anyway, for misplaying the foul pop before Soto’s HR, as well as that nice infield error to allow the 6th run.

well, in theory, when you have a bad day, if you have a temper you are
going to go home and beat something.
Didn’t you see that look on his face after that strike out earlier in the game? He was ready to punch something. I just assumed it was going to be his dog.

I am glad he didnt get selected to the ASG.
This way he can be fully rested once play resumes after the ASG.

Brenley mentions the shift for Theriot.
It would work one time, theriot would drop down a bunt to 3B side for a hit and that would be that.

Cwyers can say whatever he wants, but Theriot’s play today—except for that dinker off his glove—has been superb.

Mark Grace, at the same age as Lee right now,
had a 331 BA with a 396 OBP, and that was on his decline.
I pray that Lee can be at least something resembling the brilliance that was Mark Grace of the Cubs.

no one’s having a career year (of their position players), yet they have the best record in MLB. They’re doing it with pitching, defense and timely hitting. They remind me of the 2006 Tigers.

1. The Cubs have the best record in the NL.
2. They’ve played more road games than home games.
3. One of their projected starters had a nuclear meltdown.
4. Their LF has been on the DL twice.
5. Their top set-up man was terrible the first 6 week.
And they might not be for real????
