Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

I just found Dome playing as a Dragon in a old baseball cartoon magazine (2003).... he hit a hard line-drive and that hit Sapporo Mets' old pitcher's chin....

Very cool!

I love that it looks like Kosuke is wearing the uniform that looks similar to the Los Angeles Dodgers jersey, the one that was used in the movie “Mr. Baseball.”

I’ve never seen a picture of him in that one. I wish I could find a jersey for sale that looked like that. I’d buy it in a heartbeat!

Thanks for sharing, dragonsfanatic!

That's the Dragons jersey that Dome wore in Japan.

The Yakyu Shop, based in New York, sells these and other NPB items.

Dome - rookie card

Here you go

I actually don’t like that movie – it is too much exaggerating some bad part of Japanese baseball, and skew some values of Dragons… Ken Takakura is one of my favorite actor but he did not need to show up in that movie.

Didn't mean to bring up bad memories

I was sure that movie wasn’t an accurate depiction of Japanese baseball, or the Dragons in particular, but before Nomo, it was one of the few reference points the average American had when it came to NPB.

Heck, any movie about an American ballplayer in Japan directed by a guy from Australia has to be a little off, right?
