Marmol pitching the ninth,
Lee made a great play, tossed to Marmol covering first who got stepped on. He’s okay and is still in the game.

any word on when Harden will pitch???
And are we at thirteen pitchers still?

WTF?
any word on when we going down to 12?

Wood should be in
Wood should already have been in there.

he has a blister on his little finger, but is available
What's going on...
Stuck in Denver, watching the Rockies finish off the Brewers 8-3, no outs in the bottom of the 9th.
IF IT TAKES FOREVER!!
Marmol is making it interesting
with a four run lead
what fun! (sarcasm)

Men on base? How many out?
One out in Milwaukee. Go Rockies!

Bases loaded
Phillip tying run, wood coming in
Ryan Howard!!!!!!!
Home Run, PHI 3 StL 2 bottom of 8th
Only Wood and Marmol can pitch when we are winning?
No wonder Marmol wasn’t effective….
I just don't get it
I can see Marmol throwing in a slider to keep them honest. But, he should be throwing 80% fastballs.
Rockies just defeated Sheets and the Brewers 8-3.
Glendon Ruesch got the win. Cameron made a horrible two base error in center field.

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
cards get burnett?
after mulder going out after 16 pitches, they gotta be on the phone with toronto
Does anyone else think they may have lit the fire?
It just seems like the last two nights the cubbies have been doing it all right. I think that the trades and such may have lit a fire and the boys are saying “This is our division”. They seem to be playing with a little more fire the last two nights is all.
it helps that they're playing at home

Don't break out the champane yet
This game shouldn’t have even been close…...I’m not carping b/c they wwon…
But a 10/19 LOB….a lot of uncconverted ops….
and MARMOL’s got to start throwing STRIKES.
The best defense is a good offense
three of those ten
were in the bases loaded with two outs rally inning. Just saying; they scored a lot.
Marmol… needs to figure it out. Don’t know how he does that without playing…

It was one of Z’s best outings. So glad to see that there is no hangover from being on the DL. It wasnt even the best stuff that i have seen from him. I laughed when I saw his slow curve. It’s the first time I have seen him throw that in a long time. He even had a smile after the pitch.

Some facts...
...we are 4.5 ahead in the division, the biggest lead tied with the Angels’ 4.5 lead. We are 19 games over .500, the high watermark of the season is 20 games, last reached on June 24. We are tied for the most wins (55), and 2nd least losses (36). And our run differential is at +110, best in the bigs, second is Boston with +91. Cardinals are +16 and the Brewers, +9.

Yup....
And as I said…tonight’s game shouldn’t have even been (that) close….
A lot of unconverted opportuinties on offense and Marmol’ss gots to throw strikes.
Nobody’s going to give the Cubs anything. They need to be aware of the shortcommings and continue to work on them….
BTW aam very happy for the win andd the psych boost from “the trade”
The best defense is a good offense
Do you honestly think
they are not aware of their shortcomings and that they don’t work on them? You say you are happy they won but still find fault with how they won. They are humans not robots. No one perfect and to expect perfection will lead to disappointment.
questions for ya
is Kosuke( I call him Kookie) just in an adjustment phase? he has been striking out a bit lately
and do you think D. Lee has lost a bit of his pop for good? he has been stuck on 15 homers for awhile now…..and isnt it amazing that soriano has 15 homers and hasnt played in a month? i cant wait for him to come back
geo4mvpgeo4roygeo4everything

he keeps doing his thing, driving in runs, I could care less if it’s a homerun.

He's been fine
I’m not worried about Derrek at all. He’s obviously healthy by how he’s playing in the field. He’s just went thru a dry spell.
by halfblindcubbiegirl on Jul 9, 2008 10:19 PM CDT up reply actions
The league has caught up
With kookie the issue (I believe) is that the league has caught up a little. Been able to scout him much more and figured out what he is and what he isnt. That being said, he is a professional and will make his own adjustments. I think I saw tonight he was at .290 or so. His first year in the league I would take it. And It think he is hitting higher with RISP. He will make adjustments, pitchers will make adjustments. He is a fun hitter to watch though, that is for sure
I think it's adjustment on both sides.
People are figuring him out a bit, and he’s got to work through that. I think he’ll bounce back. He’s still clutch and money in the field.

I'm torn
the occassional game like that Rockies game is a blast. 18-17. Just a fun watch.
but a pitcher’s duel NEVER gets old. A 2-1 or 3-2 game is always a good watch.
I just like a well played game, I guess.
by halfblindcubbiegirl on Jul 9, 2008 10:44 PM CDT up reply actions
I think my problem with the former is that
in an 18-17 game mistakes are rampant (not sure if that was the case the other day, but usually). There are errors that open up big innings, and that’s not fun. Well, it’s okay in AAA but not what I want in the majors.
These are the saddest of possible words: "Tinker to Evers to Chance"
True in most cases
but it was good offense for the most part in that game. A few HRs but lots of hits, good ABs, etc. It was a fun game. But its not something you’d want EVERY game, ya know?
But games like this one where both pitchers are “on” are great all the time.
