My 'W' Flag

I have a win flag for my flagpole and I was wondering how it works when you take it down. Obviously you fly it after a win, but when do I take it down? At the beginning of the next day? At the beginning of a next game? Until they lose? I don't want to jinx them by flying it during a game in progress from a win the day before

I hang up a W flag in my room

whether I was at school or at home. My general rule was before midnight. It’s a new day, thus the cubs have to earn another W that day. Plus I’m superstitious and there has been a couple times where I left up to long or forgot to take it down and they lost.

My W flag hangs in my room, constantly, to remind myself that we WILL WIN the WORLD SERIES THIS YEAR

My W Flag...

...goes up with a win and stays up until they lose.

When they lose, the Stars and Stripes go up until they win again.

Only exceptions…Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend when the American Flag stays up the whole time.

Including my house, there are 6 W Flags out of 9 in a row on my block.

Pretty cool when they are all flying.

It also upsets the Sox fan neighbors across the street.

StCharles Bob wants to know what street you live on so I can drive by.

There are 3 Ws on my block.

Mine stays up till the start of the next game.

i have a w flag at work

and since i work 7-5 i will put it up when i get to work it the game was the night before and take it down at game time. or if they play that day i will hang it up right after the win if i am still at work and then it will “fly” all night and i will take it down again at game time. the cubs fans at work get a kick out of it and it always has people coming to my desk asking what it is all about.

I have a W flag up in my cube

that just stays up. I don’t have any superstitions with it. So far it hasn’t been a problem

Up with the win...

...down on my way to work the next morning or by noon if it’s not a work day. Take it down from the porch, roll it up carefully and store it in the same place every time.

I will leave it up through an off day after a win or until 5-6 pm if their playing on the West coast (late game starts).

I also fly the car window W flag during the same “safe” time periods. My wife has already had to repair this one because I’ve had to fly it so often. ;)

I believe the official Wrigley flag simply comes down the next morning (probably after rush hour since the original purpose was to let the L riders know the outcome).

I live in the Philadelphia suburbs so nobody knows what the heck it’s all about. Sadly, some seem to think I’m a bug Dubya fan. Others think I’m signalling to the mistress that the Wife is at home.

It’s all about the last Win, and hoping for the next.

Win.
