Khalil Greene Breaks Hand Punching Storage Chest

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Khalil Greene fractured his hand punching a storage chest on Wednesday night after racking up his 100th strikeout on the season.

Greene fractures hand, may be out for season

Greene, who during this past offseason was a favored target among several BCBers to replace Theriot at shortstop, has compiled an astoundingly awful season line of .213 / .260 / .339.

"I don't know how to put into words the frustration level, how difficult this year has been," Greene said. "For me to do that, it's certainly not commonplace."

Not a scrappy move at all...

Glad we have Theriot and didn’t trade for this guy.

If we had traded for him

This wouldn’t have happened.

Yeah, I caught this in today's Trib.

I guess that effectively kills that (non-) trade rumor. If only Khalil would learn from Big Z: You can punch your catcher, you can throw a Gatorade cooler or two, and you can break a few bats over your knee, but you can never, ever, ever punch a storage chest. Or a TV.

I'm enjoying every minute of it.

I got enough crap when they were good.

jeepers

guess we’re not going to go get him for Veal and Jake Fox.

that Kyle Farnsworth was traded to the Tigers.

Shouldn't the Cubs feel responsible for this?

after all, they could have saved him from his frustration by trading for him and getting him on a good team, and yet chose to stand idly by.

Reminds Me of John Tudor

who broke his hand punching an electric fan, not a Royals fan, during the 7th game of the 1985 World Series.

But really, who isn't an electric fan?

Not including Amish people, of course.

To put it another way...

“Who isn’t a fan of electricity?”

You sure it wasn't

...an eclectic fan?

I got it and enjoyed it so much I generated static electricity. Or was that statistic electricity?
I’ll stop now.

Fans of Bob Dylan before 1965?

Greene

He’s got the potential to be a high caliber player. He’s had a rough season, and that was a stupid move but I have always liked Greene. He’ll be ready to go next season.

"What a great call! Your doing a fantastic job, but people expect me to come out here and be upset. So I'm gonna kick some dirt, you understand?" - Lou Pinella

"Potential"?

This is his fifth full major league season, and so far his best is his first, 2004. He’s been declining since then, and this is his worst year.

He’ll be 29 in November. It’s entirely possible he’ll be out of baseball in two years.

Kyle Farnsworth had a vicious encounter with a fan

A box fan, that is ..

The fan won .. and Dusty chewed his pick ..

He’s going to renact that on his new reality show “Kyle Farnsworth: Fire Walk With Me” on the new Cubs Channel

Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!

Can we watch him tackle Paul Wilson instead?

That was a good one. I have always enjoyed that brawl.

August 27, 2004

I was at that game. Hot and humid, with a great deal of discomfort and tension in the air. Here’s some of the highlights>

Barrett vs. Oswalt
Farnsworth punches the dugout fan
Mercker calls the press box
Berkman fakes getting hit in the helmet (and CB Bucknor, the HP umpire that day, believes him)

I'll never forget that Berkman fake.

Sometimes players can fake out umpires and get away with it in important games. AJ Pierzynski’s act in the 2005 ALCS is another one.
