I think we can play it again:

Baseball season’s underway

Well you better get ready for a brand new day

Hey, Chicago, what do you say

The Cubs are gonna win today.

They’re singing …

Go, Cubs, go

Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say

The Cubs are gonna win today

Go, Cubs, go

Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say

The Cubs are gonna win today.

They got the power, they got the speed

To be the best in the National League

Well this is the year and the Cubs are real

So come on down to Wrigley Field.

We’re singing now …

Go, Cubs, go

Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say

The Cubs are gonna win today

Go, Cubs, go

Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say

The Cubs are gonna win today.

Baseball time is here again

You can catch it all on WGN

So stamp your feet and clap your hands

Chicago Cubs got the greatest fans.

You’re singing now …

Go, Cubs, go

Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say

The Cubs are gonna win today

Go, Cubs, go

Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say

The Cubs are gonna win today.

I agree

I would much rather them be aggressive, and maybe get gunned down a couple times, than to sit back, and not really take any advantages. Hell, I get pissy when they jog into 2nd base on a double. A-Ram could have gone to 3rd tonight on the bobble, if he hadn’t jogged over from 1st.

Our 2008 Chicago Cubs -- FINDING WAYS TO WIN!

by drewishdrewid on Aug 10, 2008 10:16 PM CDT reply actions

Carpenter...

I think there will be a ton of second guessing of TLR and Duncan about trying to stretch him back to a starter role so quickly after TJ surgery. Many experts thought he was at most ready for a relief role in 2008.

If this injury is serious, there will be lots of second guessing going on. I am not sure how realistic it was to expect him to go more than 40-50 pitches in an outing this year. I just hope the guy is OK. He sure has had his share of injuries. That should have been considered when they were being so aggressive with Carpenter’s return and role.

THIS IS OUR CENTURY!!

by LAcarl519 on Aug 10, 2008 10:16 PM CDT reply actions

OTOH

From the Cardinals’ standpoint, they may have felt as though they wouldn’t make the playoffs without Carpenter, so they were willing to take the chance.

NIce way to wake up this morning…...get on the treadmill in the Gym, run my 2 miles, and watch cubs highlights while doing so! Nice to see they won, would have loved to see the suds lose, but oh well, not much you can do about that. Howw is it though, the cubs seem to get all the hard teams and the suds seem to get the trash of the NL? Guess it’ll come down to september and the cubs beating the heck out the brewers for the title. Wonder what ol fat boy fielder is going to say or do then.

The olympics are all over AFN here, and a lot of people were watching so we got some of the results in the morning briefings. That had to be an incredible race to watch last night. Glad the USA won. Stupid Frenchies…...there’s a lot of talk as well about how China wants to upstage the US and win more medals. Let’s hope the same thing happens a chinese choke!
