Cubs "best" center fielders since '84
shameless self promotion. Here I list the best CFs the Cubs have had since I started really watching in '84. Let's just say its not pretty. Why does this not get any more attention, like 3B used to?

I'd already put Edmonds and Reed Johnson on that list.
Pretty sad, but they’ve both done an excellent job this year.

I'd put them on there, too...
If I could put them on together. :)

3b gets all the ink
but centerfield and catcher have been brutal for a really long time.
since 1984, excluding 2008, i’d opt for a half year of kenny lofton. that’s horrible. unless i forgot someone

I listened to Kenny on the Score this morning. I don’t think he’ll be able to play this year simply because his arm will be so tired from patting himself on the back.
He kept saying that the only reason everyone else has a lot of RBIs and HRs is because he was so good at getting on base in front of them.

Best Living Cubs
Centerfield is quite a black hole for the Cubs—as is catcher. If you imagine some kind of celebration of living Cubs (say, during the World Series this year…not to jinx anything), most positions are easy to fill off the top of my head: Grace at first, Sandberg at second, Banks at short, Santo at third, Williams in left, Sosa in right, Jenkins, Maddux, Sutcliffe, Holtzman, Reuschel, Sutter, Smith pitching (you can help me here, who am I forgetting?). But catcher? Hundley? Davis? their offensive numbers are, frankly, offensive. And centerfield? Mike J has already painted that picture. Do we pick Soto and Edmonds to catch and man center?
