Overflow Thread 3: Cubs vs. Braves, Wednesday 8/13, 12:10 CT

FYI: This will serve as the between-games thread, too. I'll post the "first pitch" thread -- which you'd normally see as the pregame thread with the pitcher boxes, etc. -- shortly before gametime for game two.

Quick inning for Samardzija...

if he can have another quick inning, there’s no reason he couldn’t still be in line to start Sunday.

lieber as a starter?

but to do that, we’d have to put ward on the dl

You mean as a starter on Sunday?

Or in general? Cuz I think Lieber will come up when the roster expands.

...Lou doesn’t trust Lieber as a starter. I’d expect to see Marshall given first dibs. Starting Samardzija is a worrisome move…

and yes, I would be surprised if Lieber got the call before September.

by drewishdrewid on Aug 13, 2008 2:55 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well

Then you’re watching the wrong game. I would guess that by today’s standards, more than 90% of all players jog to first on routine ground balls, jog to first or routine fly balls, jog to first on singles to the OF and generally loaf around the bases with regularity. With no fear of being demoted, that’s just the way it is. Nothing you can do about it.

Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?
