Come on. The guy was just expressing his opinion, and I think it had some merit to it. And the only discussion that is “censored” here, if that’s what you want to call it, is that which is NOT acceptable in any sort of public setting, that is, inappropriate name-calling, swearing, or general bad behavior. This is how all civil discussions are run. I’d be interested to see how BCB is the “laughing stock” of the Cubs’ online community. AL asks if we would be embarrasses to say this in front of real people…

and whether your real, or in a blog, someone can be annoying

EXACTLY

They come out of the woodwork just to (1) bitch about the team when we are down or (2) bitch about Al for whatever reason. They aren’t regulars.

It's not civil discussion.

That can happen without any animosity or name-calling or attitudes. But when that doesn’t happen, problems arise, and I’m more than comfortable with such comments/posters/threads getting deleted for inappropriate behavior and discourse.

Dan, I agree with you to a certain extent.

But just a few days ago I voiced my opinion that Lance Berkman was better than Derrek Lee, without any animosity or name calling. The only responses I got were baseless attacks, about how I’m not a real cub fan because of it. It really is ridiculous.

Hmmm

I guess I don’t remember that.

But that’s not a problem with Al, right? That seems like a natural response to posting that on a die-hard Cubs’ fan blog, right?

And I agree, of course, Berkman is playing out of his mind.

No, It isn't a problem with Al.

My problem is with the people who act as if they are Al’s police, and jump on anyone who disagrees.

by sackings108 on Aug 14, 2008 8:56 PM CDT up reply actions

If there are no disagreements, then this site can become boring...

Again, things should be discussed appropriately. They can be heated, sure, but they should still be carried out in a way that you could have the arguement in front of your mother. However, I have seen some name calling (perhaps not as inflammatory as the ghost post) used by the always positive crowd. That goes unnoticed…

What's your thoughts on all these diaries bitching about Al and this horses-patoot of a website?

You’re an old-timer, I’d be interested on your take.

I’ve been here since year one, but not like you.

They make fun of this place

because they are jealous. They thought when they left that their new place would be more popular. Funny thing is, this blog got more popular after that.

Bad News....Howry seems to just be done....

Good News….Marmol seems back on track at the right time. Now, who can they use during garbage time without the fear of every blowout becoming a game again?

maybe that is why Lou leaves him on the team. He is motivation for the offense. :-)
